Sunday Greyhound Tips: Two to watch from Sunderland and Towcester

12:34 Sunderland - Finleys Bully (T4) @ SP

This afternoon we have an ideal draw and race make up to land this A6 contest after being runner-up in three of our last four races, we have been very consistent on times and look a bit ahead of the rest of the field. We will have to do things the hard way but others runners can make the race for us today.

T2 returned to the card last week dropped away tamely, may come on for the first run since mid-June but more importantly has more early pace than us and can give us a nice running lane as we head into bends one and bends two.

T3 to me rates our main danger, backed in favourite last week and badly crowded a couple of times, will have to try and clear T2 in the early stages and we have the draw to go round under this runner. If we do get held up at all though this runner will pick up pieces.

T4 maybe vying for the lead on the run looking at split times, tends to win in A7 grade but seems to struggle when upped to this level, will need to improve a spot or too to get competitive today.

T5 similar comments to T4 really, once dropped to an A7 she wins but upper to this level finishes mid pack, I see the same scenario today.

T6 went off a big price on rerun and after a bump at the initial bend dropped right away, prior to lay off was showing early speed and could lead this race for a bend or two. We are stronger and can come through late.

So to us in T1, ideal pitch on the fence to track the early pace types. Our middle pace can bring us into contention by third bend and as long as we don't get held up at that point, we can take the lead off the last and win this race, in my opinion.

15:49 Towcester - Fabulous Naomi (T3) @ SP

We caught the eye on our racecourse debut last week, slow to go and crowded first and second bend, losing multiple lengths. On straightening up however, made up a lot of late headway and went into my notebook as an unlucky loser and one to watch in the same grade, we have an excellent chance to record our first victory today.

T1's overall form is average for the grade and needs a drop in status to return to winning ways, went off a big price last week and looking at finishing times is a few lengths slower than will need to be to land this race today.

T2 is a danger dropped back in grade as last time this runner ran in a D4 she won, ran well to be second in a D3 latest and rates our main danger today.

T4 drops back in distance from four bends to two bends, split times over the four-bend trip are quite slow. I don't see this drop in trip being a positive as is likely to come out of the traps in last place, and in a sprint that's not where you want to be.

T5 is very consistent and another runner that could land this race today, as they tend to be always there or thereabouts. I just feel our potential outweighs this form but if we do get held up this runner could come through to land this race.

This race will be a drop in grade for T6 this afternoon, which is surprising as only two runs ago they won a D3 and another two runs prior won in this grade. Achilles heel is his starts and a slow break today could mean crowding with T5 and also T4.

So to us in T3, looking at last week's replay we edged off out of T2 on the run up so moving out a trap will help us, I can see us being quicker away than last week, it's just how we handle the first two bends with runners around us.
