Saturday Greyhound Tips: Money’s on Monmore

For Saturday, we head to Monmore, looking to land two winners...

19:22 Monmore - Romeo Empire (T1) @ SP

Semi-final of the Ladbrokes Summer Stayers, and we have landed a plot draw on the inside for tonight's contest. We came up against New Destiny last week and were unable to get to him after an uncharacteristic slow beginning, but we are better drawn tonight, and we can put the pace to the race.

How I see this 630m race being run:

T2 came from miles back last week to qualify and that run has to be upgraded a bit due to the fact that he checked at the sough second lap, with that experience and the fact he does have a good make up with a race packed with pace and any crowding could benefit a strong runner so this one may sneak a place.

T3 is a really good four-bend runner and has won quite a few six-bend contests; not the strongest of stayers, but will no doubt be prominent early on in this contest. Got picked up last week, and overall time won't compete with a few of these tonight.

T4 not the usual spark last week and struggled to qualify, in a deeper race tonight, I can't see this one getting involved.

T5, my personal ante post pick, did well to qualify last week after completely missing the break will need to trap better tonight to book his passage into the final. I do see this being a match with us and T1, but tonight, I feel that in the draw, T1 may have the edge.

T6 good draw out wide but will be outclassed in this race, will struggle from the outset and be outpaced for the majority, only time I could see this runner getting involved if there was carnage on the inside, no for me.

So, to us in T1, really good draw to lead or turn a close 2nd to T3, overall pace too quick for T3, and we can go on for a comfortable victory with T5 staying on best of the rest for second place. Solid choice.

20:13 Monmore - Brindle Bully (T5) @ SP

We were desperate in defeat last week when travelling really well at numerous points only to have our path blocked, will gain a better run this evening and can gain revenge on T4 as drawn.

How I see this 480m gold cup semi-final being run:

T1 is better drawn tonight and does have a good early pace; the same can be said for the majority of the field. A touch off top class over four bends, and to me, is better and stronger over two bends.

T2 vacant.

T3 came out under the bars last week and duly obliged. Will need to repeat that split to have any chance this evening, but it is going the right way, getting quicker each run here. If the dogs on his out wide come together or fluff their line, then this one can pick up the pieces.

T4 won last week when the race came together and we got blocked, can't break the same, and will need to be quicker away as I don't see the same type of run this evening and may struggle to hold us in a clean run contest.

T6 scrapped through last week, held every chance out wide, but didn't pick up as expected. This race is harder, and I can't see this runner getting involved.

So, to us in T5, a good draw on paper, and if we can out-trap T4, we can go round the bend level or in the lead of inside runners, then it's game on. I would be 100% confident of a win if we were able to get around in front of T4. To me, rates my bet of the day.
