Saturday Greyhounds Tips: Dunstall Park pick catches the eye

20:44 Dunstall Park - T5 (Avongate Venus) @ SP

Tonight is a trial stakes for the upcoming PGR Oaks. We trialled very well over course and distance last week and fared well in the draw and the race make-up suits us, so everything is in line for a big run.

How I see this race panning out:

T1 - Monmore graded raider on recent form will struggle to land a blow tonight, if this was run back in February this year than I would've given her a squeak as she was running really well and recording some quick times at Monmore in open races, not so good since coming back on to the card in July and best watched for the time being. 

T2 - Has won two from last three at Towcester and deserves her chance this evening, consistent form across multiple tracks the last couple of months and could run well at a price tonight.

T3 - This runner has impressed me in completed races at Oxford but more recently during trial session there and last time here when stopping the clock in a quick 28.20, only downside tonight is that this runner will need to look lively at the start as her runner outside will be boring for the rails and that could end up on crowding and spoiling her chance.

T4 - Poor draw and really wants a rails pitch so no doubt will be turning left at trap rise and making a beeline for the rails, being drawn this far from

The fence could spell trouble for those drawn inside her. If she is able to clear somehow will lead for a few bends at least before we take over.

T6 - Over 10 lengths slower than us in a trial last week,Newcastle form is okay in top grade and open races but we should be too quick for her this evening.

So to us in T5 - We have a good draw as T4 will give us space on the run up and we should have enough early pace to clear T6 to the bend also. If we lead or go round handy in second or third place I only see one winner and I'm confident we will win this race by three lengths plus. Max bet for me today.

20:18 Shelbourne - T2 (Droopys Patriot) @ SP

We return this evening and drop back to 480m after being unluckily eliminated from this year's main event, really good early pace at Dundalk over the sprint trip and that will fare us well tonight. We won our opening round of the derby in a quick time and I see an all the way victory today.

How I see this open race being run:

T1 - Another derby elimination, this time at the third round, tonight however does have a good draw and rates our main danger, I just feel we have a tad more early pace and that can see us leading by the bend.

T3 - Fourth round derby elimination this time, scrapped through in a place each time and overall times weren't that quick, he just drew easy heats to qualify. Deep race tonight however and I can't see this runner being quick enough early on to secure a pitch heading into bend one.

T4 - Has run lots of 480m races here, winning one out of five tries, this is a lot harder and won't figure in tonight's finish.

T5 - Regular here on the graded card of A1/A2, won his fair share of races in that sphere, different story against these open race runners and will go off a big price tonight.

T6 - Good draw on the outer tonight but a return of three wins from 20 races here doesn't instill much confidence and will likely to be the outsider of tonight's field.

So to us in T2 - We will need to look lively at the start of tonight's race, a level break and we should have too many early gears for this field, if we can go round in front I can't see us being back run, was well-tipped for the main event and this to me is a slight drop in class. Solid selection.
