20:54 Newcastle (T4) - Ballymac Sargie @ SP

We return to our home track this evening after racing at Nottingham and also Pelaw in the last few months with some really strong results, including breaking 30 seconds for the 500m at Nottingham last week in an open race, and the race makeup tonight suits us; we can come through in the second half to win this race going away.

How I see this 480m open race being run:

T1 good draw on the inner and also a good record of five wins from 13 open races for this runner, a little off top class but will get acres of room on the run up with a vacant trap on her outside and also T3 moving off on the run up, even with all that going for her I still don't think she will be good enough.

T2 vacant trap.

T3 likely leader and fizzed round in a 28.13 last week, which is the quickest run of the year here. Today, will need a repeat of that to win, as we are right on this one's shoulder. Yes, I think this runner will lead again, but also draw us out, and if we turn second to this runner, there will only be one winner.

T5 runs well in A1 grade here, but not that competitive in this open race standard and again tonight will struggle to beat us as drawn, likely to go off one of the outsiders.

T6 throws in the odd quick run, but unlikely to get things her own way today, with T3 to me the guaranteed leader, if T3 somehow misses the up and this runner takes a flyer and clears at the bend, it may be a different story, but I can't see that happening and I don't see this runner being involved in tonight’s finish.

So to us in T4, good draw to track the early pace in T3 and turn handier than usual, anywhere near the leader off the second bend, then it's our race to lose as our overall pace and class should be too good for tonight's field, and that's why I make this runner my bet of the day.

21:11 Newcastle (T4) - Hardwick Woody @ SP

On paper, this is the best race of the entire day with three serious challengers for victory. We have won our only start here and bring the best Irish card to the table this evening, and we can improve on last week's performance and make it 2/2 on British soil.

How I see this 480m open race being run:

T1 top graded local performer, runs well in that sphere, this is a totally different level, however, and there are some very quick dogs in this race tonight, and I feel this runner will be run off his paws tonight.

T2 good win in an A1 last week and a solid enough time posted. Tonight's race is a different entity entirely, and this runner will go from winning at odds on last week's performance to being one of the outsiders tonight.

T3 is a very interesting recruit, a really quick 480m win at Shelbourne Park last time out and has trialled in here okay, improving quite a few spots from trial one to trial two, and can come on again. Looking at the Shelbourne file alone, we have the stronger card and can show our superiority this evening.

T5 vacant trap.

T6 rates as our main danger, not running that well currently, but will appreciate the return to home soil, having won two from three races here.

Had this runner been in the same form as assist, then 100% would've been my selection and probably gone off odds on for this race, but isn’t in that type of form at the minute and I feel we may get first run this evening. If we do, I highly doubt this runner will back-run us.

So, to us in T4, impressive debut last week and likely to improve as well for that outing, we can pace up this evening, and either lead or turn on T3's shoulder, if we do any of those things, then it will be our race to lose. Very confident choice.
