Greyhound Tips - Sunday, October 26
T1 (Headford Dane) 15:01 Hove @ SP
We arrive here in really good form after competing in the recent competition at Central Park, just falling short in the final but before then ran some really eye-catching times over the 491m trip. Not been here for a trial but will get lots of room on the rails this afternoon.
How I see this first round heat of the Gold Collar being run;
T2 is more middle than rails and also competed in the competition at Central Park, going out in the semi-final. On times alone we have the edge on this runner, and the only negative for us is we haven't had a trial (and this runner has). I do rank this one as the main danger to us tonight.
T3 is again another quick dog when given racing room, but this will be at a premium today with T2 taking up this runner's ground early on and I do see these coming together on the run-up.
T4 really wants the rails so will edge left on the run-up. I can't see this runner getting across to the fence (would be very dangerous if able to do that), but I can't see it.
T5 is a consistent sort over course and distance but this is a lot harder than he has been running in, and won't be able to control the race from the front. I see this one being a big price in this contest.
T6 was poor last week when having a really good chance over a bit further here, and don't think this runner will have the early pace to clear this field at the bend. From then is likely to run into trouble.
So to us on the inside - ideal pitch to pace up and rail this field off at the bend, and we can use our middle pace to go clear. There are some strong types in this race however and my eye will be on both T3 and T4 as to where they turn; as if they turned on our shoulder they could be dangerous.
However; I see an all the way victory for us.
Very confident choice.
Odds correct at time of publishing.
T5 (Fire Height Lila) 15:19 Hove @ SP
We stopped the clock in an impressive 29.08 last week on our first look over course and distance and any repeat of that will mean we easily land this contest. Good draw to work from today, and we should easily qualify from this heat.
How I see this first round heat of the Gold Collar being run;
T1 will be our main danger on the inside after last week's win; prior to that had been running ok at Central Park, still over 3 lengths slower than us time-wise last week and again I see this runner chasing us home.
T2 (reserve); mid-to-rails runner more known for his exploits at Romford and not got that great a record here over course and distance. I don't see this runner leading the inside and if not doing so his chances evaporate for me.
T3 will edge left all the way up the run-up as usually is drawn on the fence, which could spell trouble for the inside runners. If able to clear the inside has a couple of times that compete with ours, but I don't see it.
T4 - 100% will turn left at trap rise. This stayer has been off for a while and has had a couple of trials back, will need this race for race fitness alone, but if fully wound-up and there was lots of crowding this runner could come through late on in proceedings.
T6 is a wide runner, a touch off top class, and will not be able to lead this field this evening. Sole wide seed is worth a length or so but in a clean-run race I don't see this runner being fast enough.
So to us in T5 - good draw, with crowding inevitable on the inside with the four runners all trying to get the same ground. We can turn handy (if not leading) and use our all round pace to make our record here 2/2.
Very confident choice.
Odds correct at time of publishing.
