14:31 Sheffield - Point Of Glory (T3) @ SP

POINT OF GLORY has been well-backed in A2 races recently and I did it up a couple of weeks ago when very unlucky not to win after being held up at a crucial stage.

This A2 is well within our compass and I do see us getting a better run this afternoon, which can translate to a deserved win.

T1 looks the likely pace setter this afternoon, but their overall form is disappointing and this one could be picked up later on in this race. Has a few lengths to find on recent times.

The main danger emerges from T2 in my view. If gaining any sort of clear run, this is a very strong stayer that if allowed to gain a nice pitch on the rails early on, could be hard to pass. It's imperative we gain first run on this runner.

T4 is a true middle runner that fares better in A3 grade. They have won at this level, but timings suggests they're a few lengths off us.

Expect a good start from the hound in T5. They'd been off for a few weeks prior to returning last week in open class, going off a massive price at Nottingham. Back on home soil, where they've won the last twice, it wouldn't be a surprise to see them deliver a challenge at some point.

Finally, T6 has a bit to find in this grade. I don't see them challenging.

So to us in T3 - we've got the perfect draw to track the pace on the inside, gain first run on T2 and turn in a handy position. Our all-round pace should be too much for today's field and I'll be disappointing if we can't do the business.

14:31 Sheffield - Winner
Point Of Glory (T3)

Odds correct at time of publishing.

16:44 Oxford - Longacres Daddy (T6) @ SP

We step back up in trip for the first time since a narrow defeat against a good yardstick at Perry Barr over 660m when just outstayed off the last bend, but there was over 10 lengths back to the dog in third.

This is as far as we want to go, but again we can use our four-bend pace to go clear of today's field and have enough in hand off the last to win.

T1 has been on and off the cards recently and came back last week with a lacklustre performance in third place. Times weren't particularly quick but they do have a good draw and course and distance form in the locker. They're the main danger.

T2 is a railer so may come across T1 on the run up and again at bend number one. This is their six-bend debut and last week's trial was uninspiring. Doesn't do it for me.

T3 runs at the top grade at Hove but has never tried this distance. Did run well here over four bends, but their running style suggests this will be too far and the middle draw is unlikely to suit. I envisage all sorts of bother for this runner.

T4 has lots of experience over six bends but that has been back at her home track of Monmore. She's pretty consistent in the S2 graded fair but this open race could prove a step too far for her.

T5 is vacant.

Out of T6, we have the initial pace to be able to kick clear on the outside and record a trap to line victory.

16:44 Oxford - Winner
Longacres Daddy (T6)
