Monday Greyhound Tips: More Maguire at Monmore as Storm rises in Notts

Three selections today with one this afternoon from the Wolverhampton venue Monmore, then we head to Nottingham this evening for the semi-finals of the Category Two Arc National Sprint live on Premier Greyhound Racing. The first selection runs at Monmore in bottom grade A10 class at 14:23. In a race lacking early pace, June 2024 pup VIXONS MAGUIRE appeals from T1.

The Brian Thompson-trained railer looks well-drawn to lead round and, with improvement likely from the lightly raced son of Dorotas Wildcat he looks a solid betting proposition this afternoon. Only On Bale (T2) drops into A10 company for the first time since July and rates as the main danger. Mezmerize (T5) will be staying on well and could be worth including in forecast bets.

1 pt 20:36 Nottingham – Shadow Storm (T1) @ SP

Three heats of the Category Two Arc National Sprint take centre stage at Nottingham this evening with two from each heat qualifying for next week's final with £7500 up for grabs. The first semi-final at 20:36 can go to the well-drawn Hove raider SHADOW STORM in T1.

The Richard Rees-trained July 2023 son of Ballymac Best won the Arena Racing Company Scurry Gold Cup at Dunstall Park back in October and looks a major player this evening from a plot draw. As ever over the two-bend 305-metre trip at Nottingham, it's all eyes on the break.

It's imperative that Shadow Storm traps well and beats main rivals Newinn Bachelor (T5) and Ballinakill Liam (T6) into the first bend. Don’t rule out Bockos Buster from T4. The Kevin Boon-trained Suffolk Downs raider is a class act when he brings his trapping boots as he showed during the Scurry when beating Shadow Storm in the semi-finals.

1 pt 21:11 Nottingham – Nightingale Crew (T2) @ SP

The third heat of the Arc National Sprint at 21:11 can go to the Craig Morris Yarmouth raider NIGHTINGALE CREW from T2. Last week in the heats of this competition, the February 2024 son of Grangeview Ten disputed the lead but finished third behind Pro Parker. That was only his second competitive run since early October, so he will strip fitter for that outing and looks a major player this evening with a plot draw.

Droopys Will (T1) isn’t the quickest into stride, if Nightingale Crew traps well, he can grab the rails and make all. Pro Parker (T3) is an obvious danger, having beat the selection last week over course and distance. Another worth noting in the market is Turnthemagicon from T6. The Maxine Locke-trained wide seed is blessed with blistering pace; he can grab second late on and book his place in next Monday's final.
