Friday Greyhound Tips: Three to watch from Romford

Today's Greyhound Odds

1 pt 20:01 Romford – Zenith Legend (T4) @ SP

All eyes on Romford this evening with six open races taking centre stage at the London Road venue on an ultra-competitive mixed card.

The first selection is ZENITH LEGEND, who lines up from T4 in the Hrh Romford Retired Greyhound Maiden open race over the six-bend 575-metre trip at the Essex venue. Zenith Legend has always looked like the type who would excel over this trip and tonight, the Dave Mullins-trained middle seed makes his six-bend debut.

In recent weeks, Zenith Legend has clocked a flying 24.09 trial over the 400-metre trip. If he leads round and uses that four-bend pace, he could be half a dozen clear of the chasing pack by the fifth bend. Stamina is taking on trust, but he goes strong to the drop, and his running style suggests this step up will not be an issue, especially on the bunny.

1 pt 21:11 Romford – Tiffield Tarquin (T6) @ SP

At 21:11 Fabulous Sonique (T6) and Tiffield Tarquin (T6) clash in the Coral Essex Vase Trial open race over the 575-metre trip.

Coronation Cup winner Fabulous Sonique comes into the race in flying form, having won six of her last seven, but I’m against the Mark Wallis-trained winner machine with TIFFIELD TARQUIN in T6.

Draws win races and Tarquin has a cracker to work from here. The solo wide seed is plotted up with Bacon Frazzles (T4) and Princess Matilda (T5) not the quickest into stride.

If Tarquin traps well, the Yarmouth raider is capable of clocking a sectional around the 13.30 mark, a repeat of that would see him lead at the third bend and once on the bunny it’ll take a good one to back run him.

Tarquin has won his last three runs over this six-bend 575-metre distance at Romford, trap well this evening, and he can make it four on the bounce and prove he's one of the leading contenders for the upcoming Category One Essex Vase.

1 pt 21:46 Romford – Razldazl Gucci (T4) @ SP

The third and final selection this evening is RAZLDAZL GUCCI from T4 in the S5 graded race at 21:46.

The Alison Kelly-Pilgrim-trained railer bolted up over course and distance last week, clocking 36.09 following a smart 13.67 sectional, a repeat of that time would put him bang there.

The key to this race is the break and run into the first bend. It’s imperative that Gucci traps well and clears Butdarewasashark in T1 at lid rise. Back on November 28, the pair lined up against each other with the Gemma Evans-trained railer Butdarewasashark coming out on top by a length having held her pitch into the corner.

Tonight, if Gucci brings his trapping boots, he can clear those drawn on his inside and find himself two or three clear by the third bend. Miami Hero (T6) stays on well and could be worth including in forecast bets.
