20:13 Dunstall Park T4 (Avongate Venus) @ SP
Tonight is the semi-finals of the Oaks and we have a great chance to book our place in next week’s decider. The draw has worked out well and with the withdrawal of the injured T3 this will give us the space we need to ice up and make all.
How I see this race panning out…
T1 will edge more mid to rails on the run up and could come together with T2 at trap rise as both will want each other's ground in the early stages. I do make this runner our main danger still and should qualify in second place tonight.
T2 would be dangerous if she was able to repeat her 2.97 split she did in the first round but space will be at a premium this evening and I don't see her getting a clear passage spoiling her chances.
T3 vacant box which will help us.
T5 has done well to get this far, stayer that will be running on in the second half of the race and if there is lots of crowding or the race slows at the bends then this runner may spring a surprise, if it was a clear run contest then I don't see this runner being quick enough.
T6 surprisingly picked up on the run last week by a non-stayer does have a good pitch on the outside to turn handy and act as our goalkeeper as I feel we have more early pace than this runner but this runner can keep the other runners at bay.
So to us in T4, we will appreciate this move from T6 to T4 tonight and can use the fact we have a vacant trap on our inside and a slow starter on our outer to pace up and clear the field at the bend. If we lead today we can stretch clear and win impressively. Very confident choice.

20:54 Romford T6 (Brindle Bully) @ SP
Tonight is the final of the guys and dolls competition and we have done well to qualify after last week’s trouble in the semi-final. Tonight we fared best on the draw and we can use that to our advantage and land this contest.
How I see this 400m open race being run…
T1. I feel this race will need a sub-24 second run to win it and this runner has never achieved that, close to a PB last week after early trouble, good draw tonight but may lack the yard if early pace to take full advantage.
T2 record of two from 10 at Romford and zero from two in trap 2, does have a quick win on 12th September of 23.74 and a repeat of that run would make him a massive danger to us on the outside. I just see lots of crowding for the mid to inside runners initially in tonight's race and feel the draw may be against this runner.
T3 has a good record winning four from seven tries here and has drawn the 'ping box' for tonight's decider. Will need to break like she did last week and record a 3.65 split to challenge. I personally don't see that and there could be minimal room on the run up and again at the first bend tonight which could ruin this one's chances.
T4, a really consistent local who always gives her running, draws perilously tonight with T3 edging off and T5 edging in so room will be at a premium in the early stages.
T5 runs more mid to rails, impressive winner last week from T3, will turn left at trap rise and be edging across all the way up the run up. This will give us lots of room on the outer to pace up.
So to us in T6, great draw, good overall pace and if we break as we should we can avoid all the early trouble and either lead on turn on the shoulder of the leaders and use our middle pace to close and go on by bend three to win this going away. Solid selection.
