Wednesday Greyhound Tips: Michael Smyth’s Doncaster decisions

Today's Greyhound Odds

1 pt 16:07 Doncaster – Ballyconnell Rua (T6) @ SP

All eyes on Doncaster this afternoon for an ultra-competitive graded card featuring five sprints races and four other races over the four-bend 450-metre trip at the Yorkshire venue. At 16:07 look out for BALLYCONNELL RUA, who is looking to make it three on the bounce in as many weeks. The May 2023 son of Good News is in flying form with 27.84 and 27.48 wins over this course and distance recently with victories recorded at six lengths and four-and-three-quarters.

Today, from a plot draw in T6, Rua will be looking to lead round and make all. If he gets it right at the boxes this could be all over bar the shouting down the back straight. Keefill Vale (T2) mixes it in top grade and open race action at Doncaster. The Philip Milner-trained railer rates as the danger. Miller Spirit (T5) will be staying on well and could be worth including in forecast bets.

1 pt 16:26 Doncaster – Keefill Dares (T6) @ SP

The top grade B1 race at 16:26 can go to early-paced wide seed KEEFILL DARES from T6. The Philip Milner-trained July 2022 daughter of Droopys Addition returned to action last week following a layoff from mid-December. That run would have blown away the cobwebs and Keefill Dares should be spot on now and ready to win. As ever, the key to the race will be the break and run into the corner.

It's imperative that the wide seed pings the lids and leads round. Magical Boss (T2) beat the selection last time out and rates as the main danger. He’s capable of winning this from the front or, if turning handy and would be a huge runner with a level break. Swift Kev (T5) is a consistent course and distance performer and could attract support if priced up at fancy odds.

1 pt 16:44 Doncaster – Sporting Moana (T2) @ SP

The third and final selection this afternoon is lightly raced railer SPORTING MOANA, who runs from T2 in the B6 graded race at 16:44. A vacant box on her inside strengthens the claims of Moana and with a level break, the June 2024 youngster can hold her pitch into the corner and lead down the back straight. Easy Choice (T4) is an interesting runner.

The July 2024 pup was marked awkward in a sprint race back on December 14 and has since had three clearing trials and returns to competitive action this afternoon. She’s pacey and could well be above this grade, but she’s yet to put it all together in a race. Lightly raced Transfer Girl (T5) is worth noting in the market on her four-bend debut. The money is sharp at Doncaster; significant support should be noted.
