Sunday Greyhound Tips: Moanteen Pudding to serve up success at Star Pelaw

It's Sunday Greyhound Tips time, and for today's trio, we head to, and stay at, Star Pelaw in Chester-le-Street.

All eyes are on Star Pelaw this evening with the Chester-le-Street venue staging eight open races plus three supporting graded races on an ultra-competitive card.

At 19:42, look out for MOANTEEN PUDDING, who runs from T4 in the Star Pelaw Stayers Trophy open race over the six-bend 590-metre trip.

The Glenn Foot-trained Doncaster raider was sent off as the 1/3 favourite over course and distance on January 1, but could only finish second with Darraghs Flash making all.

Although beaten, Moanteen Pudding showed nice pace throughout and hinted that she will be a smart performer over the trip, especially when she leads round. That's the key this evening; it's imperative that Moanteen Pudding pings the lids and kicks for home off the second bend.

1 pt 19:58 Star Pelaw – Popper Joe (T1) @ SP

Sixteen minutes later, POPPER JOE looks well-drawn to lead round and make all on the Star Pelaw 435 Standard over the four-bend trip at the north east venue.

The Henry Young-trained August 2022 son of Ballymac Best impressed over course and distance last week, making all and holding off a late challenge from Killieford Goram, who reopposes this evening from T2.

Although Goram stayed on well and got within half a length, Popper Joe was still leading at the drop, so he’s strong over the trip. All eyes are on the break. If Joe pops out and holds his pitch into the first bend, he will prove hard to beat.

Tromora Grace (T4) is a class act over this trip at Star Pelaw and is worth noting in the market. Burrow Bell bolted up last time out, winning in 25.67. Although drawn a little wider than normal out in T6, the middle seed would be a danger to all with another smart break this evening.

2 pt 20:16 Star Pelaw – Four Over (T6) @ SP

The Rachel Davison Belated 40th Birthday open race at 20:16 over the four-bend 435m trip can go to solo wide seed FOUR OVER, who lines up from T6.

The eyes are naturally drawn to well-drawn railer Catch The Wind in T1 with vacant boxes in Traps two and three, and he could attract support based on the draw and two wins in his last four runs.

What edges it for me is the clock; Four Over has recorded 25.61 on the bunny, compared to 25.80 for Catch The Wind. That's 19 spots difference, so around two-and-a-half lengths.

If Four Over brings his trapping boots, pops out in best fashion and leads off the second bend, it should be all over bar the shouting down the back straight. Catch The Wind can chase home the selection and fill the forecast spot.
