Thursday Greyhound Tips: Can Michael Smyth make it a happy Valley

It's off to the track this Thursday, an alliteration that looks great on the page but makes no sense if you say it out loud. Without further ado, Michael Smyth (BettingJungle on X) is here with his top tips from today's racing at the Valley.

1 pt 15:11 Valley – Inner City (T1) @ SP
All eyes on Ystrad Mynach this afternoon with twelve races taking place at the Hengoed venue Valley. At 15:11 in the D3 graded sprint over the two-bend, 260-metre trip, INNER CITY appeals from T1. Well-drawn as the solo railer in the race, the October 2022 daughter of Ballymac Best is looking to take this race and land a four-timer. In recent weeks, Inner City has recorded wins in 16.47, 16.37 and last time out 16.25.
Today, if she pops out, leads round and dips below 16.20 it’ll take a good one to back run her. Faradays Larry (T6) was beaten by the selection last time out but would be a danger this afternoon with a smart exit from the boxes. Baggios Gizmo (T2) ran well in defeat last time out when narrowly beaten in a photo finish, he could be worth including in forecast bets.

1 pt 16:07 Valley – Leahs Molly (T2) @ SP
Another well-drawn runner this afternoon is middle seed LEAHS MOLLY, who lines up from T2 at 16:07. This race is all about the break. Leahs Molly needs to clear Hawkfield Cassie (T1) at lid rise and once on the bunny, the June 2022 daughter of Broadstrand Bono can kick for home and take this D5 graded sprint at the last remaining greyhound track in Wales.
When looking for dangers, the eyes were drawn to Milton Hope in T6. The wide seed is better known as a four-bend performer, so if she traps well and turns handy, Milton Hope would be a danger to all. Smoking Sid (T4) is often there or thereabouts at the finish; in fact, she’s finished second on her last two runs. If sent off at fancy prices, the November 2022 daughter of Ballymac Wild could be worth including in forecast bets.

1 pt 16:44 Valley – Affleck Salsabil (T6) @ SP
The A4 graded race at 16:44 over the four-bend 460-metre trip can go to the Charlie Darch-trained wide seed Affleck Salsabil who lines up from T6. The Rhondda Cynon Taff-based greyhound mixes it in two-bend and four-bend races at Valley and is capable of winning this from the front or if he turns second on the tail of the leader. The key to the race is the break and run into the corner.
If Affleck Salsabil brings his trapping boots, he’s capable of a 5.60 sectional, a repeat of that would see him lead off the second bend and once on the bunny he can kick for home and this should be all over bar the shouting by the third bend. Hawkfield Jackie (T1) makes her four-bend debut this afternoon and should be noted in the market. The money is shrewd at Valley; the locals know the time of day and major support should be heeded.
