Thursday Greyhound Tips: A trio from Star Pelaw to kick off the New Year

Westview Dior (7/4) was an impressive winner at Dunstall Park yesterday with Casey Ferret chasing home the selection to land a solid £18.74 forecast pick. Today, we head to the north-east with open race action from Star Pelaw.

At 14:11 in the Star Pelaw New Years Stayers Trophy open over the six-bend 590 metre trip, Sunderland raider KILLIEFORD GORAM appeals from T1. The consistent June 2021 son of Vulturi has won three of his last five races over this course and distance and looks well-drawn this afternoon to add to that. The key is the break. Ballymac Sargie rates as a huge danger from T3 so it's imperative that Killieford Goram beats that rival into the corner and skips a couple clear down the back straight.

The Star Pelaw New Year's Day Sprint Trophy open race at 14:26 can go to the Glenn Foot-trained Doncaster raider DREAMIN PORCHA from T2. The March 2023 daughter of Pestana is four from ten at Pelaw and two from three when drawn in the blue jacket.

Today, if she brings her trapping boots, Porcha can lead round, kick for home and take this race. Lightly raced Links Mcgillis is worth noting in the market from T1. The Tom Heilbron-trained railer bolted up over course and distance back on December 14, clocking 14.69. She would be a danger to all with a level break. Tullymurry Shine (T4) is a consistent performer over this two-bend trip, so she could be worth including in forecast bets.

The third and final selection this afternoon is BLACKSTONE TINO who lines up from T2 at 15:22 in the Star Pelaw New Year's Maiden Sprint open race. Tino is a top grade D1 runner and winner at his home track, Sunderland, and he has plenty of wins on his card over the last couple of months.

On his two previous visits to Pelaw, Tino is yet to score. Today it's all eyes on the break. Tino needs to clear kennelmate Stylish Kellie (T1) at lid rise and lead round. Solo wide seed Eden Dolly (T6) was badly crowded over course and distance last week and was eventually beaten ten lengths. A line can be put through that run. The July 2022 daughter of Pestana has run three times of late following a spell off lame, she will be approaching peak fitness and is worth noting in the market.
