Wycombe Wanderers vs Huddersfield Town Prediction: Promotion chasers tough to separate

League 1 high-flyers Wycombe Wanderers and Huddersfield Town meet at Adams Park on Tuesday (19:45, Sky Sports+) with both teams aiming to steal a march in the promotion race. Wycombe currently sit second in the standings and can leapfrog Birmingham City to move back to the summit with a victory on home turf.
Huddersfield are two places and seven points below Wycombe, but they have a game in hand on the Chairboys and two on third-placed Wrexham, so they could blast their way firmly into the automatic promotion hunt with a victory in Buckinghamshire. Below is my Wycombe Wanderers vs Huddersfield Town prediction, alongside team news and match odds.
Wycombe Wanderers vs Huddersfield Town Betting Tips
Team News
Wycombe will have to make do without suspended defender Alex Hartridge, who was sent off in Saturday's 1-1 draw with Blackpool. He joins injured duo Sam Vokes and Kieran Sadlier on the sidelines.
Huddersfield also had a player sent off last time out, with Ruben Roosken receiving a straight red card just nine minutes after coming on for what was his debut in the goalless draw with Rotherham United.
Nigel Lonwijk was forced off early in that game and is an injury doubt, while first-choice goalkeeper Lee Nicholls and forward Danny Ward are among a long list of confirmed absentees for the Terriers - the latter has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a knee issue.
Wycombe Wanderers vs Huddersfield Town Odds
Wycombe are the marginal 13/10 favourites to win this match and return to the top of the standings, giving the hosts an implied probability of 43.5%, with Huddersfield priced at 21/10 (32.2%) and the draw at 23/10.
Both teams to score can be backed at 8/11, with Wycombe's Richard Kone the leading candidate to open the scoring at 5/1
Match Result - Draw @ 23/10
Wycombe are flying in League 1 this season, losing just one of their last 22 matches, a run that stretches back to August, but their away form has tended to be better than their record at Adams Park.
Matt Bloomfield's side have picked up three fewer points on home turf than they have on their travels and scored 14 fewer goals, while they have only won one of their last five matches on their own patch across all competitions.
Town are currently on the longest unbeaten run in League 1, as they have gone 14 matches without defeat in the competition since losing at table-toppers Birmingham in early October.
The Terriers have drawn three of their last five though and, with both of these sides proving hard to beat, another share of the spoils could be on the cards.
Odds correct at time of publishing.
Bet Builder - Richard Kone (WYC) Anytime Goalscorer & Under 2.5 Total Goals @ 6/1
Wycombe forward Kone took his League 1 scoring tally for the season to 13 with his penalty against Blackpool on Saturday, which was also his fourth goal in as many games.
Only Louie Barry, who has since returned to parent club Aston Villa following a loan spell with Stockport County, has netted more in the division, and Kone looks a solid option to maintain his fine form on Tuesday.
Kone scoring forms the backbone to this Bet Builder, but that does not mean this will be a goal fest, as four of Wycombe's last five home games in League 1 have gone under the 2.5 goal mark, while that has also been true in each of Town's last three matches.
Siding with less than three goals on Tuesday, alongside Kone finding the back of the net, could, therefore, offer plenty of value.
