Wrexham vs Charlton Prediction: Addicks can secure a big result

Wrexham are on the cusp of a third successive promotion as they bid to make the jump from League 1 to the Championship. The Red Dragons face a huge test in Charlton Athletic on Saturday (17:30, Sky Sports Main Event) as the two collide at the STok Cae Ras.
The Addicks are four points behind the hosts coming into this but their last outing saw them thrash fellow promotion chasers Wycombe Wanderers. This one could be full of fireworks and you will find my Wrexham vs Charlton predictions below, aided by the latest team news and match odds.

Team News
Wrexham are still coping with injuries to Mo Faal, Andy Cannon, Will Boyle and Sebastian Revan.
After their victory at Blackpool on Monday, Phil Parkinson could stick with the same XI against Charlton, which would leave January additions Sam Smith and Jay Rodriguez as the strike partnership.
Jack Marriott and Steven Fletcher will be providing competition to the front men as they will want to feature in this crunch clash.
Oliver Rathbone, George Dobson and Matty James have been trusted in midfield in recent weeks, but Elliot Lee, who has eight goals in the league, is another alternative in the middle of the park.
Max Cleworth, Dan Scarr and Lewis Brunt are expected to operate as the back three for the Red Dragons.
Wrexham vs Charlton Stats
- Charlton are unbeaten in their last six matches
- Charlton have won three away games on the spin
Charlton head to north Wales without forward Chuks Aneke, who was sent off in the dying stages of Monday's win over Wycombe.
Nathan Jones may be tempted to field the same side that overwhelmed the Chairboys, but he may be forced into one change as Luke Berry, one of the goalscorers last time out, was forced off in the first half.
Karoy Anderson came in for him, so he would likely get the nod to start in his place on Saturday.
Miles Leaburn and Daniel Kanu are the other two Addicks players in the medical bay.
Greg Docherty and Conor Coventry should continue their partnership in midfield, while Matt Godden, who has 16 goals in the league, is expected to get attacking support from Tyreece Campbell and Thierry Small.
Wrexham have won three of their last four home fixtures in League 1 and they are 13/10 to come out on top on Saturday.
The Red Dragons have drawn two of their past three matches in the league and the stalemate is on offer at 11/5, which has an implied probability of 31.3%.
Charlton are 23/10 to come away with the three points, which they have accomplished in their last three appearances, as well as their past three away trips.
Six of the Addicks' last seven outings in League 1 have produced over 2.5 goals, which is available at 6/5.
Draw or Charlton and over 1.5 goals @ 13/10
This game could be season-defining. A win for Wrexham might lead to promotion (if Wycombe drop points against Leyton Orient), while a win for Charlton would put them a point behind the Welsh side heading into the final weekend - which might be the preferred scenario for the neutral.
Both teams are in good form coming into this, particularly Charlton, who have put three wins together to propel them into the conversation for second place. Some may suggest their peak has come too late but a victory here and a helping hand from Leyton Orient may put them in a very strong position on the final day as they host strugglers Burton Albion.
The Addicks look to be hitting form at the right time and they will pose a huge threat to Wrexham's third successive promotion story. Given the way the visitors are playing right now, I'm confident that they can come away with at least a point in north Wales so I'm covering double chance in their favour.
I've boosted the selection with over 1.5 goals because I think there will be no shortage of goals in this contest. There have been at least two goals scored in six of Charlton's last seven matches, as well as in five of Wrexham's previous six.

Both teams to score @ 10/11
With a game of this magnitude, I'm backing for there to be goals at both ends. BTTS has been a winning selection in Wrexham's past two appearances in League 1, as well as in three of Charlton's previous five.
I also fancy this selection because it landed when the two teams met at The Valley back in October as they played out a 2-2 draw. BTTS had struck before half-time with both teams getting on the scoresheet within five minutes of each other.
There are much higher stakes in this meeting and I think this will lead to both sets of attackers bringing their A-game.
