Wrexham vs bolton

Two promotion hopefuls will meet at the Racecourse Ground on Saturday (12:30, live on Sky Sports +) as Wrexham host Bolton Wanderers in League 1.

The home side are currently third in the standings, while the visitors head into the weekend in eighth spot and sit outside the play-off places due to goal difference. Read on for my Wrexham vs Bolton prediction, as well as the latest match odds and team news.

Team News

Wrexham will be without Andy Cannon, who has already scored against Bolton this season, due to the knee injury he sustained in last weekend's win over Mansfield Town.

Luke Bolton and Will Boyle both remain absent with respective calf problems, Callum Burton continues to recover from a thigh injury, and Elliot Lee is also a doubt for the hosts.

As for Bolton, they will be missing Kyle Dempsey, who has missed the majority of the campaign with a knee injury, and Victor Adeboyejo could also sit this one out after Steven Schumacher confirmed that the former Burton Albion man may need surgery on knee ligament damage.

Eoin Toal back available after missing the Leyton Orient game with a thigh strain but Gethin Jones isn't fit after struggling to overcome a rib injury picked up at Shrewsbury.

Ricardo Santos missed out on the start of the week’s training through illness, however, he's making progress from a pelvic injury which has kept him out since January.

Wrexham vs Bolton Odds

Wrexham are 6/5 to claim all three points, giving them an implied win probability of 45.5%, with the draw priced up at 12/5 and Bolton are available to back at 23/10.

Paul Mullin leads the anytime goalscorer market at 9/5, while John McAtee is shortest-priced for the away side at 21/10.

Wrexham to win @ 6/5

I think home comforts will prove pivotal for Wrexham in Saturday's lunchtime meeting with Bolton.

The Dragons are currently third in League 1 and will be desperate to bounce back from the Football League Trophy semi-final disappointment against Peterborough United on Wednesday night, in which they lost on penalties.

Last weekend's win against Mansfield marked Wrexham's third victory in their last four league games, and they defeated Bolton just over a fortnight ago in the quarter-finals of the Football League Trophy.

Phil Parkinson's side have been defensively sound at home this season, too - they've conceded just 14 goals in 17 league games at the Racecourse, which works out as an average of 0.82 goals per game.

If the Dragons go a goal in front, they'll be tough to break down and hard to beat as evidenced by the slender 1-0 win over Bolton earlier this month.

Both teams to score @ 8/11

Unlike the recent Football League Trophy meeting between the sides, I do see both teams getting on the scoresheet on Saturday.

Wrexham's recent form has been hit-and-miss but they've made the Racecourse a fortress this season, which is why I fancy them to turn up in any game in front of their own fans.

This has been a winning pick in each of Wrexham's last six league games, and the same bet has landed in five of Bolton's last seven league encounters, so I think there's a decent chance it could come in this weekend.

In addition, both sides are among the highest-scoring teams in the division - Bolton rank third (52) behind Wycombe Wanderers and Birmingham City, while Wrexham are fifth (48).
