Wolves picked up a huge victory when beating Chelsea 4-2 at Stamford Bridge, and whatever has been said about the motivation and performance of the Blues in that contest, Gary O’Neil’s men deserve plenty of credit for another impressive performance.

Brentford have also beaten Chelsea this term, but that victory over their west London rivals is one of only six Premier League wins for the Bees and Thomas Frank’s men are certainly not clear of relegation danger.

It’s an intriguing Molineux contest but it’s one that Wolves can be confident of winning.

Team news

Boubacar Traore and Hee-chan Hwang have returned from international duty and O’Neil has a fully fit squad to pick from.

Brentford are boosted by the return of Saman Ghoddos but Josh Dasilva has suffered another long-term injury and Frank Onyeka and Yoane Wissa are still away at the Africa Cup of Nations.

Wolves @ 11/10

Chelsea were certainly not at their peak when losing 4-2 to Wolves last weekend, but it’s hard not to be seriously impressed with O’Neil’s men.

Not many Premier League teams are able to score four goals on the road against top-level opposition and that victory made it only one defeat in nine games for Wolves.

The Molineux outfit have not only been impressive with results, but the style of play and attacking intent has been excellent and Wolves are also boosted by the return of Traore and Hwang.

Brentford have lost seven of their 10 away league matches this season and losing games is something the Bees have had to get used to.

Frank’s men have been beaten in 10 of their last 13 games, in a run which includes a 3-2 extra-time loss to Wolves at Molineux in the FA Cup, and another defeat could await the relegation-threatened Bees.

Wolves to win vs Brentford

Over 3.5 goals @ 7/4

These two sides have met three times this season and there has been a total of 11 goals scored in those matches. The tally extends to 12 if Wolves’ extra-time FA Cup strike is included and O’Neil has seen the net bulge 36 times in his side’s last 10 matches.

Brentford have been struggling for victories but they now have key forward Ivan Toney back in their ranks and the Bees have netted eight goals in their last four games.

There have been a total of 33 goals in Brentford’s last eight matches and neither of these teams are accustomed to taking a backward step. At 7/4, going over 3.5 goals looks like a solid play on Saturday.
