West Ham vs Southampton Prediction: Struggling duo to serve up a treat

With Premier League relegation of no concern, West Ham will be hoping for a strong finish in order to improve their 17th-placed position - and they are short-priced favourites to start with victory over a sorry Southampton at the London Stadium on Saturday (15:00).
Read on for my West Ham vs Southampton predictions, complete with the latest match odds and team news.
West Ham vs Southampton Predictions
*odds correct at time of publication
West Ham are 1/2 to end a five-game winless run at home to Southampton, who are 6/1 having lost 13 of their 16 away league matches this season.
The draw, which was the outcome in West Ham’s last home league game against Bournemouth, is available at 7/2.
The Hammers were 1-0 winners at Southampton earlier in the season and under 2.5 goals is 6/5, while overs are on offer at 4/6.
West Ham forward Niclas Fullkrug heads the betting to open the scoring at 7/2.
Team News
West Ham remain without forwards Michael Antonio and Crysencio Summerville while Aaron Cresswell is an injury doubt, having missed the last two matches with a muscle problem.
West Ham vs Southampton Stats
- Thirteen of Southampton's last 14 league matches have seen over 2.5 goals scored
- Jarrod Bowen has scored eight goals in 28 league matches this season
As for Southampton, Albert Gronbaek and Charlie Taylor are still sidelined while Paul Onuachu is a doubt with an ankle problem, having limped off at half-time in last weekend’s 3-0 defeat at home to Aston Villa.
Both teams to score & over 2.5 goals @ 6/5
While this may represent a gilt-edged opportunity for West Ham, they are winless in five Premier League games and a high-scoring encounter may represent far greater value.
Southampton have been woefully out of their depth this season, suffering 26 defeats in 32 outings, but their matches have been littered with entertainment.
Thirteen of their last 14 league matches have gone over 2.5 goals, with them scoring in 10 of those outings, which includes in six of their last seven away trips.
Having netted in defeat in recent away trips to Nottingham Forest, Liverpool and Tottenham, Southampton should be confident of finding a way past this West Ham defence.
However, keeping the Hammers at bay is a very unlikely task considering they have leaked 77 goals in 32 top-flight matches.

Jarrod Bowen to score anytime @ 13/10
With Antonio and Summerville missing through injury, Jarrod Bowen remains West Ham’s most dangerous weapon and the England international has eight goals in 28 league appearances this season.
Bowen grabbed the only goal of the game in a 1-0 win at Southampton earlier in the campaign and his tally of 30 shots on target from 28 appearances suggests he could be a potential thorn in the Saints’ side.
