West Ham United and Newcastle United return to Premier League duties this weekend when the sides meet at the London Stadium on Sunday afternoon (14:00), after both teams enjoyed victories in their midweek European clashes.

The Hammers beat Freiburg 2-1 on Thursday night, while Newcastle blew away Paris Saint-Germain in an emphatic 4-1 victory in the Champions League.

West Ham vs Newcastle Prediction

  • Draw @ 13/5
  • #PickYourPunt – James Ward-Prowse to provide 1+ assists @ 7/2

Team News

The Hammers are hoping to welcome back Aaron Cresswell after he sustained a hamstring injury that sidelined him against Sheffield United.

West Ham are already missing Ben Johnson, while Michail Antonio sat out the Europa League tie with Freiburg due a problem with his adductor muscle.

Meanwhile, Callum Wilson and Joelinton will face a late fitness tests after they both missed the triumph against PSG, while Harvey Barnes, Joe Willock and Sven Botman all remain on the injury list.

Draw @ 13/5

Two of the Premier League’s in-form teams will be looking to build on their European heroics when the sides clash on Sunday, but to be honest, I don’t really know which way this one will go.

I’m expecting both sides to suffer a European hangover, both sides are coming into this match in good form – the Hammers have only lost to Manchester City and Liverpool this term, while the Magpies have won five of their last six outings across all competitions.

The last match between these two at the London Stadium saw six goals fly in, but due to their respective European commitments, I’m expecting a much tighter affair here.

#PickYourPunt – James Ward-Prowse to provide 1+ assists @ 7/2

James Ward-Prowse has been a revelation since joining the Hammers in the summer.

The former Southampton midfielder added an extra dimension to West Ham United’s attack with his free-kick prowess and dead-ball delivery, and I think 7/2 is a cracking price for him to provide 1+ assists on Sunday.

The 28-year-old has seven assists in nine appearances across all competitions so far this season, and he looks poised to add to that this weekend.
