Weekend League Two Predictions: Best bets for the games this weekend

There is a full League Two card to savour on Saturday when the three sides currently filling the automatic promotion places find themselves facing awkward away games.

Leaders Stockport will be looking to make it 13 straight wins at Newport County, second-placed Mansfield are also heading south-west to Swindon while Notts County, in third, are travelling to Wimbledon.

Fourth-placed Wrexham and Crewe, in fifth - at home to Morecambe and Doncaster respectively - will be looking to take advantage of any slips from the trio above them.

There is also a big game at the bottom between Grimsby and Sutton United, both showing signs of improvement, but still desperate for wins.

League Two Tips - November 25, 2023

  • Back Crewe at home to Doncaster @ 6/5
  • Back Draw or Accrington Double Chance at Bradford @ 8/11
  • Back Notts County at AFC Wimbledon @ 7/4

Crewe vs Doncaster (Saturday, 15:00)

There may not have been too many fancying Crewe for promotion at the start of the season given the superpowers lined up against them, but the Alex are fifth and flying and can add another three points to their tally on Saturday.

Doncaster are the visitors to Gresty Road with boss Grant McCann promising Rovers will have only attack on their mind.

But that's an approach fraught with potential pitfalls against one of the slickest, sharpest and most prolific attacks in the fourth tier.

Crewe's only defeat in eight in all competitions was 2-0 at home to Stockport - and there's no shame in that - while their recent scintillating burst has included a 3-1 win at Derby in the FA Cup (after drawing 2-2 at Pride Park) and, more importantly, a fabulous 1-0 success over promotion rivals Notts County.

Doncaster's barricades will be tested by the fourth best attack in the basement. And while they have found a bit of form themselves, their only league wins in the last seven weeks have been against sides in the current bottom four.

Bradford City vs Accrington Stanley (Saturday, 15:00)

Bradford's 5-1 battering of Barnsley in the Football League Trophy on Tuesday night has encouraged Bantams' fans to believe they might be turning a corner under new boss Graham Alexander – but Alexander himself refuses to be carried away.

Alexander's first two matches in charge at Valley Parade were league losses against Barrow and Notts County, and he's far too experienced to be overly excited by a dismantling of a youthful Tykes' side in a midweek cup tie.

And there is no doubt that Accrington Stanley, with league points on the line, are going to prove a far sterner test.

Stanley have dropped off the heights of October when they recorded a five-game winning streak, but their one win since - 2-0 at home to Wrexham - amply illustrates what a capable bunch they are.

Bradford, considering they have lost four in a row in the league, are far too short with the Draw or Accrington suggested in the Double Chance market.

AFC Wimbledon vs Notts County (Saturday, 15:00)

Notts County righted a couple of wrongs with a 4-2 win over Bradford last week and can make it two in two at Plough Lane.

Back-to-back losses against Wrexham and Crewe had seen County lose ground in the title race.

But all three of their prized frontmen - Macaulay Langstaff, David McGoldrick and Dan Crowley - were on target against the Bantams and now boast a combined 28 goals this term.

That's quite some firepower to be taking to Wimbledon where Dons' boss Johnnie Jackson needs to plan without defender Huseyin Biler and striker Omar Bugiel, who are both suspended.
