We are into the penultimate weekend of the season in League 1 and there are some cracking games in store that could throw in some twists and turns at both ends of the table.

From Saturday's offering of 11 matches, we've picked out four selections that we feel offer great value to punters this weekend. Below, we have detailed our weekend EFL League 1 predictions.

Weekend League 1 Tips

  • Wycombe Wanderers to beat Carlisle United @ 1/1
  • Bolton and over 2.5 goals in Bolton Wanderers vs Port Vale @ 21/20
  • Alfie May to score anytime in Charlton Athletic vs Shrewsbury Town @ 11/8
  • Blackpool to beat Barnsley @ 6/5

Wycombe Wanderers to beat Carlisle United @ 1/1

Carlisle United have had a forgettable time in the third tier this year, and after one year away they are returning to League 2. With relegation confirmed they have nothing but pride to play for but we still think they will struggle this weekend.

They host Wycombe Wanderers at Brunton Park, who have won two on the bounce and are unbeaten in their last four. The Chairboys look to be finding their rhythm under Matt Bloomfield and a strong end to the season could bode well for their preparations for the next campaign. We think they offer excellent value at 1/1 to knock Carlisle while they're down.

Wycombe to win at 1/1 Bolton and over 2.5 goals in Bolton Wanderers vs Port Vale @ 21/20

Two draws in a row have made automatic promotion difficult for Bolton Wanderers. The Trotters find themselves three points behind Derby County heading into the final two fixtures. Ian Evatt's men simply need to get maximum points this weekend and hope that the Rams slip-up at Cambridge United.

The Trotters are on home soil which should help them out, as well as the fact that they are facing relegation-threatened Port Vale, who have lost three in a row. We fancy Bolton to get back to winning ways this weekend, which could tee-up an exciting final day of the campaign in the race for second.

There is not much value in backing them to win, so we have enhanced the odds by including over 2.5 goals, which has landed in 52% (23/44) of their matches this term.

Bolton and over 2.5 goals at 21/20 Alfie May to score anytime in Charlton Athletic vs Shrewsbury Town @ 11/8

This one seems straightforward. As the leading marksman in League 1 this season with a whopping 23 goals, we think Charlton Athletic striker Alfie May is the man to back to score anytime this weekend.

The attacker has such an excellent goalscoring pedigree at this level and it is no surprise to see him top of the charts this term, regardless of not playing for one of the promotion-chasers.

He may have blanked in his last two outings but we're backing him to bounce back at home to Shrewsbury Town, who have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last three.

Alfie May to score anytime at 11/8 Blackpool to beat Barnsley @ 6/5

If you're a Barnsley fan right now, you're probably feeling a bit nervy at recent results. The Tykes have failed to win in their last four but still hold onto fifth spot. However, if their poor run of form continues for the final two weeks, you have to feel that they could drop out of the play-offs completely.

They head to Blackpool this weekend, who find themselves three points outside the play-offs and five behind the Tykes. So the importance of this match for both teams cannot be overstated. The Tangerines will be looking to make a late dash for the top six, as will Lincoln City, who are one place above them.

Right now, it looks as though Barnsley are the team most likely to drop out of the top six and another defeat could see them crack. This could bode well for Blackpool, who have won three on the bounce and they will feel momentum is with them in the final fortnight.

That's why we fancy them to grab the victory at Bloomfield Road, which would then lead to some exciting final day drama next weekend.
