Weekend EFL Championship Predictions: Hull to get the result they need against Plymouth

The final weekend of the Championship season is just around the corner, with much left to be decided at both ends of the table, and I am back once again to present my predictions for the matches in store.

After seeing just one of my four selections landing last week, I am hoping to go out with a bang on matchday 46. Here are my final EFL Championship predictions for the season.

Weekend Championship Tips

  • Ipswich Town to win to nil against Huddersfield Town @ 1/1
  • Over 3.5 goals in Leeds United vs Southampton @ 6/5
  • Leicester City to win to nil against Blackburn Rovers @ 9/4
  • Hull City to beat Plymouth Argyle @ 1/1

Ipswich Town to win to nil against Huddersfield Town @ 1/1

Ipswich Town can secure promotion to the Premier League with a point against Huddersfield Town at Portman Road but I think they would like to do it in style. The Tractor Boys have scored an astonishing 90 goals this season and I believe that tally can get a bit higher against the Terriers this weekend.

The visitors are relegated in everything but name so this should be considered a free hit for the hosts and they have more than enough quality to score without reply on home soil.

Ipswich to win to nil at 1/1 Over 3.5 goals in Leeds United vs Southampton @ 6/5

A cracking game between two teams who could meet in the play-offs is in store here and I think that there will be plenty of goals on offer given the quality among both Leeds and Southampton's ranks. They have both been two of the best teams in the division this year, scoring a lot of goals in the process.

The Saints have scored 85 goals so far and Leeds themselves have 80. While the Whites will be hoping that there will still be a chance for them to gain automatic promotion, although slight, Southampton will want to build momentum ahead of the play-offs.

Interestingly, over 3.5 goals has been a winning bet in 17 of the Saints' 45 fixtures this season, and six of them have come in their last eight. It also landed when the two teams met back in September as Southampton prevailed 3-1 at St Mary's.

Over 3.5 goals at 6/5 Leicester City to win to nil against Blackburn Rovers @ 9/4

Leicester City may already have the Championship title wrapped up but they have the chance to end the season as centurions as they sit three points off the coveted 100-point mark. They will have a great opportunity to do so at home to Blackburn Rovers on Saturday, whose position in the league is in jeopardy heading into the weekend if results don't go their way.

Sadly, I don't think their destiny will be in their own hands and they will be relying on favours from other clubs to keep them in the second tier. I fancy the Foxes to end their season in style and by that I mean winning this game to nil.

They have far too much quality in attack for Rovers to handle and they will be relishing the chance to face a defence that has leaked 74 goals this year. Jamie Vardy will be itching to add to his tally in the season finale.

Leicester to win to nil at 9/4 Hull City to beat Plymouth Argyle @ 1/1

Hull City head into the weekend needing a win to have any chance of sneaking into the play-offs, while Plymouth Argyle are still at risk of getting relegated. Sorry Pilgrims fans but I am backing the Tigers to come out on top in this clash despite the game taking place at Home Park.

Hull are unbeaten in their last six outings and you feel as though momentum is with them heading into the final day. They will be hoping that West Bromwich Albion can slip-up against Preston North End but it counts for nothing if they don't do their part. With Argyle having lost two on the bounce, the pressure might just get to them and wreck their survival bid.
