Weekend EFL Championship Predictions: The Robins to cruise past the Millers

Looking to bounce back from a disastrous week of Championship predictions last week, where none of my four selections came in, I'm back once again with my tips for the weekend ahead.

I've gone with the same format of four tips, and this time I'm hoping I can land my first clean sweep of the season. It can't get any worse that's for sure.

Weekend Championship Tips

  • Norwich and over 2.5 goals in Norwich City vs Swansea City @ 13/10
  • Sammie Szmodics to score anytime in Blackburn Rovers vs Coventry City @ 7/5
  • Bristol City to win to nil against Rotherham United @ 21/20
  • Ipswich Town to beat Hull City @ 23/20

Norwich and over 2.5 goals in Norwich City vs Swansea City @ 13/10

Norwich City are in a great position to finish inside the play-off places as we enter the penultimate weekend of the season. The Canaries are sixth on 72 points, only behind West Bromwich Albion in fifth on goal difference.

Their home form has been most impressive this year as they have picked up 48 points out of a possible 66 at Carrow Road. They could secure their play-off status this weekend with a win and results elsewhere, and I'm backing them to do their part at home to Swansea City, who have nothing to play for.

I fancy there to be a few goals in this game too, given that the hosts have scored 77 from their 44 matches so far.

Norwich and over 2.5 goals at 13/10 Sammie Szmodics to score anytime in Blackburn Rovers vs Coventry City @ 7/5

The Championship's top scorer Sammie Szmodics netted his 25th goal of the season in Blackburn Rovers' frustrating home defeat to Sheffield Wednesday last week. It has pulled them back into the relegation picture, so they will be eager to avoid any last-day drama next weekend by getting a result against Coventry City.

Szmodics has had to carry Rovers' attacking threat mostly by himself this season and I fancy his goalscoring touch to continue against a fatigued Sky Blues outfit this weekend.

Sammie Szmodics anytime scorer at 7/5 Bristol City to win to nil against Rotherham United @ 21/20

Liam Manning's Bristol City are having a strong end to the season. The Robins are six games unbeaten, having won three of them. They entertain the team already relegated in Rotherham United to Ashton Gate on Saturday, and I fancy them to record a convincing win.

The foundations are being put in place for a potentially more fruitful campaign in 2024/25, and the Robins will want to keep their unbeaten run in going in the final two weeks.

With Rotherham having failed to win an away game all year, as well as their woeful defensive record (85 goals conceded), I reckon Bristol City can register another thumping victory similar to when they thrashed Blackburn 5-0 earlier in the month.

Bristol City to win to nil at 21/20 Ipswich Town to beat Hull City @ 23/20

With over a week off since their last match, Ipswich Town will be raring to go at Hull City on Saturday night so that they can get back to winning ways in their bid to gain automatic promotion.

Hull may have picked up an important win over Coventry in the week but I think they may struggle against a Tractor Boys squad that is going to be revitalised with some extra rest and preparation.

Kieran McKenna's men will be hoping to pick up maximum points from their final three fixtures to give them their best chance of finishing in the top two, and I fancy them to get back to winning ways on Humberside.
