Villarreal vs Sevilla

Villarreal host Sevilla at El Madrigal in La Liga on Saturday (15:15) looking to bounce back from their away defeat to Celta Vigo last weekend. Marcelino's side had won two on the spin before that and he will be hoping that returning to home soil will help them get back to winning ways.

However, they welcome a Sevilla outfit that is in strong form, having won four of their last five, and they will fancy their chances to secure a top-half finish in the last four matches. I think an interesting encounter lies in store and I have laid out my Villarreal vs Sevilla predictions below, as well as team news and match odds.

Villarreal vs Sevilla Betting Tips

  • Sevilla to win @ 11/4
  • #PickYourPunt - Alexander Sorloth and Youssef En-Nesyri to score anytime @ 7/2

Match Odds

Villarreal are 9/10 to get back to winning ways here, which gives them an implied probability of 52.6%. Sevilla are 11/4 to grab another win, which gives them a chance of 26.7%. The draw can be backed at the same price of 11/4.

Both teams to score has landed in the last four league meetings between the two sides, and Sevilla have failed to keep a clean sheet in eight of the last 10. BTTS is on offer here at 8/15. Over 2.5 goals is also available at 8/15.

Villarreal's Norwegian striker, Alexander Sorloth, has scored 17 goals in La Liga this term and is 100/30 to open the scoring on Saturday. Sevilla's Youssef En-Nesyri has 13 to his name and he is valued at 8/5 to score anytime at El Madrigal.

Team News

The hosts have some personnel issues heading into the weekend as Marcelino is set to be without Gerard Moreno, Juan Foyth, Bertrand Traore, Yeremy Pino and Denis Suarez due to injury. They will also be unable to call upon Santi Comesana as he serves the suspension he picked up against Celta last time out.

Sevilla have quite a lengthy injury list of their own as Erik Lamela, Kike Salas, Isaac Romero, Adria Pedrosa, Djibril Sow, Oliver Torres and Nemanja Gudelj are all on the sidelines. Suso will return from his suspension but Loic Bade will now serve one for picking up too many yellow cards.

Sevilla to win @ 11/4

They may not be perceived as the favourites heading into this clash but I do believe that Sevilla can pick up another win here. They are in far better form than the hosts as they are five games unbeaten, winning four in the process.

When you also factor in their form on the road too, you see that they offer good value to win this match. Just one defeat in their last seven is most impressive and that defeat came at the hands of champions Real Madrid.

The injury list might be why they are not favoured, but Villarreal are also missing some key players of their own. Momentum is certainly with the visitors regardless and that is why I believe that they will win on Saturday.

Sevilla to win at 11/4 #PickYourPunt - Alexander Sorloth and Youssef En-Nesyri to score anytime @ 7/2

As mentioned earlier, both these sides are blessed with prolific goalscorers and they are two of the best strikers in the division. Sorloth has 17 goals to his name in this campaign and he has netted four in his last five appearances.

En-Nesyri has three in his last four and his tally for the season now stands at 13. These are two players who are often the difference-makers for their respective teams and I think both can have a huge part to play in Saturday's match.

By having them both to score, it offers a better price than them to score individually, and I do see them getting on the scoresheet because they have both been performing in recent weeks.
