Uruguay have been one of the best sides in South American World Cup qualifying and they will be hoping to pick up from where they left off when taking on Venezuala at the Estadio Monumental de Maturin on Tuesday night (23:00 KO).
Read on for the latest odds, team news and my Venezuela vs Uruguay predictions.
Uruguay can be backed at 11/8 for the victory, while Venezuela are 2/1 outsiders and the draw is available at 15/8.
Over 2.5 goals is on offer at 6/4, while both teams to score is priced at Evs and it is 11/4 for over 1.5 goals in the first half.
Team News
Uruguay are dealing with plenty of suspensions after their controversial defeat in the Copa America semi-final that saw many of their players sent off.
Ronald Araujo, Jose Maria Gimenez, Rodrigo Bentancur, Mathias Olivera and Darwin Nunez are all suspended for that incident while Nahitan Nandez and Federico Valverde are also absent due to the accumulation of yellow cards.
For Venezuela, Jhon Chancellor and Yangel Herrera have withdrawn from the squad and Cristian Casseres is suspended after picking up too many yellow cards across the qualifying campaign.
Uruguay to win @ 11/8
Uruguay’s Copa America semi-final defeat to Venezuela this summer came at a significant cost, with five of their players still suspended due to their actions in the 1-0 loss.
That has been a big blow to Marcelo Bielsa’s side but they should still be too strong for a Venezuela side that were beaten 4-0 by Bolivia last time out.
The away side currently sit second in the qualifying standings after seven games and under their talismanic coach almost reached the Copa America final.
Uruguay knocked Brazil out of that competition and are not to be underestimated, even with their absentees.
They have only lost one of their last 10 meetings with these opponents and ran out 4-1 winners when the two teams last met in 2022.
Side with Bielsa’s men to take another big step toward qualification for the World Cup with a crucial away win.

Brian Rodriguez to score anytime @ 4/1
With many of Uruguay’s attacking stars suspended and with Luis Suarez announcing his retirement from international football recently, expect an unusual scorer to step up against Venezuela.
Brian Rodriguez already has four goals for his nation and registered a shot on target in his team’s 0-0 draw with Paraguay last time out.
Take the midfielder to get on the scoresheet in this one.
