Valencia will hope to make home advantage count when they return to league action to take on Cadiz on Monday night in La Liga.

Ruben Baraja’s team are only two points better off than Monday’s visitors after going four matches without a victory.

Los Che last won in September when they beat Atletico Madrid 3-0 at home, while Cadiz are winless in five.

Team news

Baraja will be without Thierry Correia, Mouctar Diakhaby, Jose Gaya and Jesus Vazquez for Monday’s game, while both Alberto Mari and Sergi Canos will need to pass fitness tests.

Cadiz quartet Roger Marti, Brian Ocampo, Fede San Emeterio and Luis Hernandez will miss out through injury, while Darwin Machis and Ruben Alcaraz are suspended.

Confidence must surely be low in both camps, with Valencia’s promising start now a thing of the past after a four-match winless run. Los Che have managed to pick up two draws during that time, but having home advantage may help their cause.

Valencia have won two of their four games at home this season, and, importantly, they kept a clean sheet in both of those.

Cadiz are winless in five games, and their injury problems should cause them too many problems in the final third.

Monday’s game will be the first for both teams since the international break and rustiness is always a possibility after a few days of rest.

Neither side have played with any consistency this season and it may well be that the game is cagey for the opening 45 minutes. Cadiz are only three points above the relegation zone and they have not fared too well on their travels.

They have only picked up one point all season on the road and Valencia’s greater strength in depth should eventually shine through at the Mestalla.

Match odds

Both teams are out of form, but Valencia have already proven they can overcome bigger obstacles and they are 8/11 to win on home turf. The draw is 5/2, while Cadiz, who won this fixture last season, are 4/1 to win on the road.

Those who fancy a high-scoring game can back over 2.5 goals at 6/5, while both teams to score is priced at 1/1.

Valencia striker Hugo Druro, who has netted three goals already this season, is the 15/8 favourite to score anytime, while team-mate Diego Lopez is priced at 11/5 in the same market.
