Udinese vs Fiorentina Prediction: La Viola to wrap up the season with a win

Fiorentina travel to Udinese for their final Serie A fixture of the season on Sunday (19:45) hoping that they can end the day having secured their place in the Uefa Conference League. La Viola have been in the European competition for three years running and a victory here, and favours from elsewhere can ensure their participation in the UCL next term.

Udinese will welcome both Lorenzo Lucca and Arthur Atta back from suspension, but the hosts will have depleted resources once again as cautions last week have ruled out Sandi Lovric and Thomas Kristensen for this clash.

Hassane Kamara is also a doubt after being forced off inside the opening half-hour last weekend, and he is set to join Martin Payero, Florian Thauvin, Jaka Bijol and Isaak Toure in the treatment room.

Fiorentina will have three players back from suspension for this trip. Nicolo Zaniolo has served his ban following the red card he picked up against Roma, while Michael Folorunsho and Lucas Beltran are available their suspensions for picking up too many yellow cards.

La Viola remain without Danilo Cataldi due to a hamstring injury, while defender Pietro Comuzzo picked up a problem against Bologna that looks to have ruled him out of the season finale.

Moise Kean was the match-winner last weekend, firing home late on against Bologna, and while he has been beaten to the Serie A Capocannoniere by Mateo Retegui, the Fiorentina striker has had a remarkable campaign.

The vastly-experienced David de Gea will continue in goal for the visitors.

Udinese have won just one of their last five league games and they are 5/2 to triumph here - but they did beat Fiorentina in the reverse fixture back in December.

The draw is marketed at 5/2 as well, with the visitors having experienced stalemates in two of their past seven Serie A contests.

La Viola are 21/20 to come out on top here, having won three of their previous five outings in the league.

Over 2.5 goals has been a winning selection in seven of Fiorentina's last 10 matches in the top flight and it is available at 10/11 on this occasion.

Udinese have nothing to play for on Sunday, whereas Fiorentina have a slim chance of booking their place in the Conference League next term, so the onus will be on them to start strongly at Stadio Friuli.

Raffaele Palladino's side have the momentum gained from getting back to winning ways against Bologna last time out, and they have now won five of their last nine fixtures in Serie A.

A slight concern is that only one of them came on their travels but they have the chance to end the season strongly on the road against a side who are winless in their previous four home appearances.

Udinese have nothing to gain from this match, so it's fair to assume their players won't be particularly fired up for this clash, whereas La Viola will. They have to win to have any chance of European football. Yes, they need favours from elsewhere but they can only focus on themselves and I believe they will do their part.

Someone who can make that happen is striker Moise Kean, who has been their standout player this campaign. The Italian has 18 goals in Serie A this term and only Atalanta's Mateo Retegui (25) has more than the Fiorentina star.

Kean has the chance to end the season with 25 goals in all competitions with a goal on Sunday, and he has already scored against Udinese this term, converting a penalty in the defeat to the Bianconeri back in December.

The 25-year-old was also back on the scoresheet against Bologna last time out to snatch the winning goal in the 84th minute. This could bode well for him on the final day, as his teammates will turn to him for inspiration with European football on the line.
