Sydney are enduring a rough patch of form with just one win in their last five Australian A-League Men's matches, although they are unbeaten in their last three. The Sky Blues will be delighted by Wednesday's visit of Perth Glory to Allianz Stadium (08:00, TNT Sports), then, with their next opponents second bottom and on just five points after 11 games.

Below is my Sydney vs Perth Glory prediction, complete with all the latest team news and match odds.

Sydney vs Perth Glory Betting Tips

  • Player to Score Two or More Goals - Joe Lolley (SYD) @ 5/1
  • To Win Both Halves - Sydney @ 13/10

Team News

Douglas Costa and Alex Popovic are still out injured for Sydney who have promoted Leo Sena and Marin France into their extended squad.

Football Odds

Perth Glory striker David Williams recently suffered an ACL injury and has been ruled out for the remainder of the season.

In more positive news, Nikola Mileusnic, who hasn't featured since November, and Abdul Faisal are back in David Zdrilic's squad.

Sydney vs Perth Glory Odds

The last time these teams met, in April last year, Sydney smashed their opponents 7-1, and the Sky Blues have won all three head-to-heads at Allianz Stadium since the start of 2023. Ufuk Talay's side are, understandably, huge favourites to triumph again this week, with odds of 1/5 giving Sydney an implied win probability of 83.3% compared to Perth Glory's 10.5% (17/2). The draw, meanwhile, is priced at 5/1.

Both teams to score is available at 4/6 and over 3.5 total goals at 8/11.

Player to Score Two or More Goals - Joe Lolley (SYD) @ 5/1

Sydney star Joe Lolley missed a couple of league matches in the first half of November but returned with a goal in the Sydney derby. He looks back to full fitness now and after netting three times across his last two games, taking his ALM season tally to five, the former Nottingham Forest winger is behind only Nicolas Milanovic (WSW) and Kosta Barbarouses (Wellington Phoenix) in the Golden Boot race.

The Englishman will be eyeing up Wednesday as a great opportunity to catch up with Milanovic and Barbarouses, and possibly overtake them ahead of the weekend's action, with Sydney's opponents in midweek, Perth Glory, in dire straits having shipped a league-high 30 goals in just 11 games.

The Glory have conceded multiple goals in eight of those contests and have allowed three strikes in three of their last four, so they won't be thrilled at coming up against one of the best attackers in the division, Lolley, who has a sensational scoring record against them.

Lolley has struck six times in five career appearances against the Glory, netting in all five games, and it was the last meeting between the two, when Sydney ran out 7-1 winners, that he helped himself to a brace.

After notching twice in Sydney's 3-0 win over Melbourne Victory on December 28, I'm backing the 32-year-old to repeat that feat on Wednesday as he looks to make it back-to-back braces against the Glory.

To Win Both Halves - Sydney @ 13/10

Perth came so close to securing just a second win of the season last Friday against Western United as they led from the 66th minute until the first minute of stoppage time when Tate Russell equalised for the visitors, and it was heartbreak when, just four minutes later, Jordan Lauton scored a stunning overhead kick to leave the Glory pointless for a second game running.

On the one hand, scoring twice and leading until so late against a decent side could offer Zdrilic and his charges some belief that they can take with them into future games. On the other hand, such a late defeat, in those circumstances, could sap any confidence they might have had.

Sydney aren't exactly in the best of shapes themselves but a three-game unbeaten run is something, at least, and now they will be targeting just a second victory since the start of December.

Goals aren't an issue for this Sky Blues side as they have struck 11 times across their last four matches but they have kept just one clean sheet all season, although that did come recently as they beat Melbourne Victory 3-0 last month, the first time this term that they have won both halves of an ALM contest.

It was a stroll in the park for Sydney the last time these sides met as they put three past Perth in the first half before winning the second half 4-1 to rack up a 7-1 scoreline in their favour. I don't envisage quite as many strikes on Wednesday but I do believe that the hosts can coast to success and net a couple on either side of the interval.

The Glory have lost both halves of a game on five occasions this season and up against a rampant Sydney attack, the 13/10 for the Sky Blues to win both halves is one to consider.
