Sweden vs germany prediction

Sweden and Germany go head-to-head in Stadion Letzigrund for their final match of Group C at the Uefa European Women's Championship on Saturday (20:00, ITV1) in what is a straight shoot-out for top spot.

Both teams are locked on six points and victory for either would earn them the more favourable draw in the knockout stage. Below you will find my Sweden vs Germany predictions, supported by the latest team news and match odds.

Sweden vs Germany Betting Tips

  • Germany and both teams to score @ 10/3
  • Lea Schuller anytime goalscorer @ 13/8

Team News

Linda Sembrant and Jonna Andersson are in contention for recalls after dropping out of the Sweden lineup on Tuesday, with fresh legs likely needed against a strong Germany side.

Hanna Bennison is also an option if boss Peter Gerhardsson opts to replenish the midfield ahead of this showdown.

Fridolina Rolfo could be given a longer workout from the bench after recovering from injury to feature as a substitute late on against Denmark in their group opener.

Stina Blackstenius and Kosovare Asllani are expected to continue in attack, having scored a goal each at the tournament so far.

Sweden vs Germany Stats

  • Germany have won their last seven matches in all competitions
  • Lea Schuller (GER) has two goals at the Euros

Germany remain without their captain Giulia Gwinn, who picked up a tournament-ending knee injury in the opening match against Poland.

Carlotta Wamser will continue in defence in Gwinn’s absence, with the Eintracht Frankfurt star set to line up again with Janina Minge, Rebecca Knaak and Sarai Linder.

At the top end of the pitch, Lea Schuller will be looking to continue her red-hot form after scoring five goals in her last four appearances for her country.

Sweden vs Germany Odds

Sweden have won their last four matches in all competitions and they are 15/8 to defeat Germany on Saturday. Three of their past eight fixtures have ended in a draw, though, and the stalemate can be backed at 12/5.

Germany are 13/10 (which has an implied probability of 43.5%) to collect the three points, having prevailed in each of their previous seven games across all competitions.

Two of the last four meetings between the two sides have featured goals at both ends, and BTTS is marketed at 8/11.

Germany and both teams to score @ 10/3

Both teams have performed well in Switzerland so far and this is set up to be a cracking contest between the two best teams in this group, who have both already sealed their places in the knockout stage.

This match will decide who prevails as the group winners, though, and I believe both teams will want to grab top spot with a more favourable draw on the line. The two teams have scored four goals apiece across their first two matches and while Germany have conceded just the one goal, Sweden's defence is yet to be breached.

Of course, they are about to face their toughest test yet in DFB-Frauen, and vice versa. From what we have seen from them both so far, they have the credentials to go far in Switzerland and I believe this contest will be a tight affair.

However, when it comes to individual quality, I give Germany the edge, and I think they will come out on top here in a game that should also include goals at both ends of the pitch.

Sweden vs Germany - Match Result & Both Teams to Score Germany & Yes

Odds correct at time of publishing.

Lea Schuller anytime goalscorer @ 13/8

Schuller has a brilliant scoring record for Germany with 54 goals in 77 appearances across all competitions - with two coming across her first two appearances at the Euros so far.

The attacker now has five goals in as many matches across all competitions, so she is in fine form, and the player Sweden need to be most concerned about.

Since the retirement of pivotal figure Alexandra Popp, Schuller has really stepped up and she is a key player for DFB-Frauen. I think she offers good value to add to her Euros tally on Saturday night.
