Swansea City welcome Plymouth Argyle to the Swansea.com Stadium on Wednesday (19:45, Sky Sports+), looking to build on their 1-0 victory over Derby County on Saturday. It was an impressive victory for the Swans as Derby had been in good form.

Plymouth head to South Wales off the back of a 2-1 win over Norwich City at the weekend, but they have still only won one of their 20 away trips in the second tier to date - which is why they are rooted to the bottom of the table. Read on for my Swansea vs Plymouth predictions, aided by the latest team news and match odds.

Team News

Swansea's Kristian Pedersen is expected to miss the rest of the season with a hamstring injury that has kept him out of action since November.

The Swans' wide options are limited due to the back issue picked up by Myles Peart-Harris, so the hosts are likely to continue with a 5-3-2 shape. Ronald and Liam Cullen were the front two last time out, but Zan Vipotnik, the equalising hero at Leeds United on March 29, will be pushing for a recall.

Eom Ji-sung came off the bench to score the winner against Derby on Saturday and he too will be hoping to get the nod to start against Plymouth on Wednesday. Goncalo Franco, Lewis O'Brien and Jay Fulton are expected to maintain their places in caretaker boss Alan Sheehan's midfield.

Lawrence Vigouroux will continue in between the sticks for Swansea, and he should be protected by Ben Cabango, Harry Darling and Hannes Delcroix in the centre of defence, while Josh Key and Josh Tymon are likely to offer wide support as the wing-backs.

Swansea vs Plymouth Stats

  • Plymouth have only won one away game in the Championship this season
  • Five of Swansea's last six league games have seen at least one team fail to score

Plymouth are still missing Brendan Galloway, who has not featured for the visitors since January. Nikola Katic was forced off in the dying stages of their victory over Norwich at the weekend with a hamstring problem, so his involvement on Wednesday looks in doubt.

Fellow defender Maksym Taloverov is also in the treatment room with a knee injury.

Boss Miron Muslic may be tempted to stick with a similar XI to the one that defeated the Canaries, which should be spearheaded by Ryan Hardie, whose brace secured them a huge three points in the race for survival.

Swansea vs Plymouth Odds

Given Plymouth's poor away record, as well as the fact that Swansea have won three of their last four home games, the Swans are the 4/6 (or an implied chance of 60%) favourites to win this match.

Argyle's sole victory on the road did come last month, which came at Portsmouth, but they head here off the back of an important three points at Home Park. They are 9/2 to record back-to-back wins for the first time since February.

Two of their past four away fixtures have ended in a stalemate, and the draw is marketed at 11/4 on this occasion.

Five of Swansea's previous six Championship matches have featured under 2.5 goals, which is available at 4/5.

Swansea and under 2.5 goals @ 12/5

There were concerns that Swansea were going to be pulled into the relegation this year because they have largely been poor throughout this campaign. They have managed to put some wins on the board in recent weeks, though, which has pulled them seven points clear of the bottom three.

They are not out of the woods yet with six games left to play, but they can give themselves some added security by beating Plymouth, who have the worst away record in the division.

Argyle will make the trip with some much-needed confidence but one win in 20 on the road speaks for itself. They are a completely different team to the one that plays at Home Park and this was the story last season, too.

I've boosted the odds for a home victory by adding under 2.5 goals, which has been a winning selection in five of the Swans' past six outings in the second tier, three of which came at the Swansea.com Stadium.

Both teams to score - No @ 4/5

I think there's a good chance that we will see Swansea keep Plymouth at bay in midweek. The Pilgrims have struggled away from home and they have failed to score in 14 of their 20 road trips this term in the Championship, which amounts to a whopping 70%.

More often than not, Argyle are toothless on their travels, and I think this could be the case for them when they head to South Wales. Swansea have won three of their past four home games and on each occasion they kept a clean sheet.

BTTS- No has been a successful bet in six of the Swans' last seven outings in the league and I believe we will see this trend continue when they face Plymouth.
