Stuttgart vs St Pauli Prediction: Four in a row for Hountondji

FC St. Pauli will be aiming to maintain their unbeaten start to the 2025/26 Bundesliga campaign on Friday (19:30 BST, BBC iPlayer) when they take on VfB Stuttgart, whose 100% record came crashing down in a 3-1 defeat to Freiburg last weekend, at MHPArena.
Below are my Stuttgart vs St Pauli predictions, supported by all the latest team news and match odds.

Team News
Deniz Undav injured his knee in gameweek two against Monchengladbach, and the 29-year-old remains sidelined for Friday's fixture.
Justin Diehl, Ameen Al-Dakhi (both muscle), Silas, Leonidas Stergiou (both ankle), Luca Jaquez (broken nose) and Fabian Bredlow (knee) could all miss out again, too.
St Pauli are also without several players due to injury.
Abdoulie Ceesay (foot), Karol Mets (knee), Ricky-Jade Jones (shoulder) and David Nemeth (groin) are set to miss out once more, although Jackson Irvine, who hasn't featured since a 2-1 win at Holstein Kiel on April 12, made the bench last weekend and could get some minutes under his belt on Friday.
Stuttgart vs St Pauli Predicted Lineups
- Stuttgart - Nubel; Vagnoman, Jeltsch, Chabot, Mittelstadt; Karazor, Stiller; Tomas, El Khannouss, Leweling; Demirovic
- St Pauli - Vasilj; Wahl, Smith, Dzwigala; Pyrka, Sands, Fujita, Oppie; Sinani; Hountondji, Pereira Lage
The two teams exchanged a couple of 1-0 wins last season, with both losing at home. Another St Pauli victory at MHPArena can be backed at 18/5, implying a 21.7% probability of success, while Stuttgart are 8/11 to record back-to-back home wins, following up on their 1-0 victory over Borussia Monchengladbach on August 30.
The draw is priced at 11/4, both teams to score at 8/11, while a repeat of last season's scoreline in favour of the visitors is available at 14/1.
Stuttgart vs St Pauli Stats
- Danel Sinani (STP) was booked in both H2Hs last season
- Sinani has been shown three yellows in his last four games for club/country
- Andreas Hountondji (STP) has scored in his first three Bundesliga apps
Player to Receive a Card - Daniel Sinani (STP) @ 11/4
St Pauli's Danel Sinani was only booked three times in last season's Bundesliga, but two of his three yellows came against Friday's opponents, Stuttgart.
The 28-year-old, who averaged a foul per game in 2024/25, despite only starting 12 of his 26 appearances and averaging 49 minutes on the pitch per match, only came off the bench in the 70th minute of their first meeting in Stuttgart last season, but committed one foul and was cautioned for time-wasting.
Then, in the reverse fixture in Hamburg, he made two fouls and was shown a yellow for remonstrating with the referee.
Sinani has already been booked once for St Pauli this term, for time-wasting in the Hamburg derby against HSV on August 29. The Luxembourg international, who was carded in back-to-back September internationals against Northern Ireland and Slovakia, is averaging three fouls per game in this season's Bundesliga, and looks like a good bet to go into the book on Friday at MHPArena.

Price Boosts - Andreas Hountondji (STP) To Score At Anytime @ 5/2 3/1
St Pauli striker Andreas Hountondji, on loan from English Premier League side Burnley, has made a terrific start to his Bundesliga career, scoring in each of his first three games.
The 23-year-old scored with his head against Borussia Dortmund, his left foot against HSV, and his right foot against Augsburg.
He's not been shy to shoot, registering two efforts in each of his first two matches before trying his luck four times in his third.
Finding a goal in a fourth consecutive game will be difficult, but considering Stuttgart have kept just a single clean sheet in five competitive contests this term, shipping four alone to second-tier side Braunschweig in the DFB-Pokal first round (4-4, Stuttgart won on penalties), and three last time out at Freiburg, this price boost on Hountondji is tempting.
