Stockport vs MK Dons Prediction: 7/1 shot on away win

League Two is getting some much-needed television coverage on Saturday, and promotion rivals Stockport County and MK Dons will take centre stage as they meet at Edgeley Park, live on Sky Sports, with kick-off at 17:15. 

County have hit somewhat of a stumbling block in recent weeks, after looking like title-winners for the majority of the season. Now they’ve slipped to second, and are just one point ahead of both Wrexham and MK Dons. This game will have huge consequences on the promotion race, and below you can find our Stockport vs MK Dons prediction. 

Team News

Having received the all clear to return to full-contact training, Kyle Knoyle is close to a return to the matchday squad for the hosts and could feature here. Callum Camps suffered cramp in the 2-2 draw with Crawley Town but should be fine to play here, while Paddy Madden will be desperate to start having been dropped to the bench last time out. Recent arrival Todd Kane is getting back to full match fitness after a couple of appearances, and could play the full 90 minutes here. 

MK Dons could put Cameron Norman back into the XI after a string of impressive performances, while Dan Kemp is pushing for minutes after being named on the bench in the 3-1 win over Crewe. That impressive performance could lead Mike Williamson to name an unchanged team, with his side in excellent form.

Stockport are the 4/6 favourites for this one, with MK Dons priced at 100/30 to take all three points. A draw can be backed at 13/5, BTTS is 8/11 and over 2.5 goals is the same price.

These two boast two of the five most dangerous attacks in League Two this season. Stockport have scored 70 goals in their 37 games, with MK Dons bagging 63 in 39. But what makes this pick a good one is the fact that they have both conceded a decent number of goals this term as well, despite their lofty positions in the table. 

MK Dons have conceded 49, with their hosts letting in 40 to date. Recently, Williamson’s men have enjoyed plenty of goals, with both teams finding the net in three of their last four matches. Meanwhile, despite Stockport’s drop off in form, both teams have scored in their last two outings.

With the attacking strength on show, I’m expecting a cracking game at Edgeley Park.

MK Dons to win and BTTS @ 7/1

We can find a huge price if we back a winner, along with BTTS. We’ve already explained one half of this selection, so let’s focus our attention on the match result. I’m not quite sure why the away side are priced at 100/30 here, given Stockport’s sticky run of form. 

County have now won just one of their last seven games, and they’ve not looked anything like the team that was storming the league before Christmas. Meanwhile, MK have been slowly gaining momentum, winning four of their last six.

Importantly, they’ve beaten several of the top teams during this run, including league leaders Mansfield away, and Crewe Alex at home. Both teams scored in both of those wins, and I’m expecting a similar performance here. 7/1 feels like a massive price.
