League One entertainers Peterborough United travel to Stockport County on Friday evening for what could be a pre-Christmas goal-fest. The hosts are nine points and eight places clear in the table, though Posh do have a game in hand over Stockport.

Darren Ferguson's side have though lost four of their last six on league duty, while County are upwardly mobile after four wins in their previous six, including the last three at home in League One.

Team News

The Hatters are set to be without defender Jayden Fevrier, midfielder Nick Powell and Everton loanee Tyler Onyango.

Boss Dave Challinor will be hoping he can retain the services of Louie Barry, with Aston Villa apparently set to recall him from his loan spell at Edgeley Park.

Posh boss Ferguson may be without the services of Kwame Poku, Rio Adebisi, Bradley Ihionvien and Jed Steer for this game.

Midfielder Chris Conn-Clarke sat out an EFL Trophy win over Northampton Town on concussion protocols and will have to be assessed again, with the visitors likely to revert to much of the side that started the league win over Crawley Town previously.

Over 3.5 Goals @ 6/4

Stockport have lost three of the four games they have played in the month of December so far and could do with a lift.

Posh could be ideal visitors in that regard, as they have lost their last five League One games on the road.

Ferguson's side have won their last two games however, while Stockport are on the back of successive losses, so backing goals in the game is preferred to siding with a preferred outcome.

Only three teams in League Two have scored more goals than Stockport's 32, and Peterborough, with 37, are one of them.

Posh have leaked more goals (35) than every team bar bottom-of-the-pile Shrewsbury Town.

Three of their last seven games in league and cup have featured seven goals, while three of the Hatters' previous five league games at Edgeley Park have featured five goals.

Louie Barry to score two or more @ 6/1

If the goals are indeed flying, expect Barry to be in the thick of the action for the home side.

The 21-year-old from Sutton Coldfield is on loan from Villa and has notched an impressive 14 goals in 20 league matches this season already, prompting suggestions he may be recalled as his parent club consider possible interest from the Championship.

Challinor will be loath to lose him with his side currently sat in the play-off spots as they aim for successive promotions.

Prior to last weekend's defeat at Stevenage, Barry had scored seven goals in seven appearances and he should thrive against a leaky visiting defence that has averaged two concessions per game so far on their league travels this season.
