St Mirren welcome Celtic for an intriguing Scottish Premiership fixture from midday on Sunday. The home team start as underdogs in the Betfred betting but beat Hibs 3-0 here in their opening game of the season and fancy another upset.

The locals must be at their best to get anything from this game, but they ran their opponents close last time in Glasgow when they lost by the odd goal in five. Are we set for another thriller? Fans certainly hope so.

Celtic have been punch-perfect in their title defence, winning both previous Premiership games, collecting six points, scoring six goals, and conceding none.

The visitors make the short trip from Glasgow with their tails up and know another impressive win will see them move back to the summit, picking up where they left off last term. The Hoops are far from the finished product, but they’re certainly heading in the right direction.

St Mirren vs Celtic Odds

Stephen Robinson’s men may enjoy home advantage, but they will kick off their third match as massive underdogs in the betting.

After beating Hibs at this venue in their opener, the Saints lost 3-1 at Pittodrie, were eliminated from the UEFA Conference League by Brann following a 4-2 aggregate score, and exited the League Cup in the second round at the hands of Dundee United.

Nothing is impossible in this competition, but St Mirren fans know their side have a huge challenge on their hands. The home win is 8/1, or the draw looks more likely at 9/2.

Celtic roll up at St Mirren Park with a pair of wins in their opening two Premiership games and a confidence-boosting 3-1 home cheer over Hibs in the League Cup.

The Bhoys scored inside the opening four minutes against the Hibees thanks to the first of two strikes from Daizen Maeda before Nicolas Kuhn rounded off a solid performance with a third goal early in the second half. Celtic are hot favourites to make it three from three in the Premiership, and you can back the visitors at 2/9.

Over 2.5 goals @ 1/2

We expect a goal-fest in Paisley on Sunday afternoon, with Celtic easing to another victory. There’s little point in backing the champions at the current odds, but we can add over 2.5 goals to our weekend accumulator and hope this match catches light early. The head-to-head stats suggest we’re onto a good bet.

St Mirren and Celtic met five times last season in league and cup duty, with the aggregate score reading St Mirren 3-13.

That goes some way to explaining why Betfred traders want to keep Rodgers’ men close this weekend. Over 2.5 goals would’ve earned you a profit in four of those five games, and we’re happy to stick with that. Back this game to produce at least three goals as the teams renew rivalries.

Celtic 3-0 @ 7/1

After tipping a correct score in each of the last two weekends, we aim to keep the good times rolling on Sunday. Back Celtic to win 3-0 on the road and shoot for a winner at great odds. If the Bhoys score the game’s first goal and get it early enough, they’ve already shown they have the firepower to finish opponents in style.

The stats attached to this game prove Celtic scored exactly three goals in each of their previous two meetings with St Mirren and in three of their last four. That run includes a couple of 3-0 victories, which gives followers plenty of encouragement. Celtic scored three past Hibs, while the Saints leaked three goals against Brann and Aberdeen.
