We’ve got a cracking match-up to look forward to on Sunday afternoon as Tottenham Hotspur host Aston Villa, with kick-off at 14:00.

With both managers drawing huge plaudits this term, this could be a brilliant game to get Super Sunday underway, and below we have put together a Bet Builder for you to consider.

Spurs vs Aston Villa Bet Builder Tips:

  • Over 3.5 goals
  • Brennan Johnson and Ollie Watkins to score
  • Lucas Digne and Douglas Luiz to be carded

Bet Builder pays 50/1

Team News

Spurs remain without key players James Maddison and Micky van de Ven until 2024 after their injuries against Chelsea. Meanwhile, Ange Postecoglou also will have to cope without Richarlison, Manor Solomon and Ivan Perisic, while Yves Bissouma and Cristian Romero are both suspended.

Aston Villa are without Emi Buendia and Tyrone Mings, while Matty Cash could be absent with a shoulder injury. Jacob Ramsey is edging closer to a return.

Match Odds

Tottenham Hotspur are 5/4 to win this game, with Aston Villa priced at 7/4. A draw can be backed at 11/4, BTTS is 2/5 and over 2.5 goals is 4/9

Over 3.5 goals

Without James Maddison and several other key starters, Postecoglou will have been working away during the international break trying to come up with a different gameplan to the one that has worked so far this season. His team have lost their last two but still retain goalscoring threat in the form of Brennan Johnson, Heung-min Son and Dejan Kulusevski.

However, their defence is looking ropey without his first-choice starting centre-backs, while Destiny Udogie also looks like he may miss this one. As a result, Aston Villa’s wonderful attackers should enjoy plenty of success, and both teams could create plenty of chances. I’m happy to start with over 3.5 goals in this bet builder.

Brennan Johnson and Ollie Watkins to score

Given we are expecting goals, it makes sense in my eyes to pick out a couple of correct goalscorers to boost our odds. Obviously, Ollie Watkins is the pick for Aston Villa as he has already hit six this season and is their most dangerous attacking threat.

For Spurs, most would plump for captain Heung-min Son, but without James Maddison he looked a lot less threatening against Wolves. Instead, Brennan Johnson scored in the opening minutes and was a constant threat. In the absence of Richarlison he has nailed down that left-wing spot, and should be able to cause problems here, especially if Matty Cash is out.

Lucas Digne and Douglas Luiz to be carded

Two players to be carded now which boosts our odds on this Bet Builder to an impressive 50/1. Tottenham are actually the team which has picked up the third-most bookings in the league this season, however, at home they are likely to dominate possession while Villa play on the break.

Aston Villa are in the bottom half of the table for bookings but have two players who are susceptible to picking up cards. Douglas Luiz has six to his name in all competitions this season, while left-back Lucas Digne can match that number. Given they are up against a tough Spurs side and could spend a decent portion of the game defending, we can expect them to pick up a couple of yellow cards here.
