On this week’s edition of The Sportsman Untitled, Simon Lillibury (that’s me), is joined by Benjamin Bloom and Jonny from Boro Breakdown to recap the latest action from the Championship.

Coventry City stormed to the top of the table after their perfect three-game week, as they recorded a 5-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday after a 4-0 win at Millwall and a 3-0 success against Birmingham City. It means they’ve shortened in the outright market again as you can see below.

The Championship Outright Winners market has seen a big change at the top as Coventry have surpassed Ipswich Town as the favourites to win the league after their perfect week. Twenty-seven goals scored in nine games is just remarkable and they remain the only unbeaten team in the professional English game right now - so they are perhaps worthy of that tag.

However, Ipswich look to be getting going right now and their derby day win over Norwich is a talking point on the show as the team Ben supports ended a 16-year wait for a win over their fiercest rivals. It's left the Canaries in a bit of a pickle under Liam Manning with the Norwich boss yet to win a home game and now having tasted a brutal derby day defeat. He's not the most popular man in Norfolk right now as we head into the second international break of the season.

Today's Football Fixtures

Meanwhile, Preston North End deserve some credit after they flew up to fourth with a 2-0 win over Charlton Athletic. Thierry Small scored against his former club, while Paul Heckingbottom has done a terrific job in charge of a team that were tipped by many (including me) to go down this term. There's a conversation around their hopes for the future, along with QPR's recent resurgence.

Julian Stephan has done superbly well to turn their fortunes around having lost 7-1 at Coventry, and they R's have gone undefeated since them, winning four and drawing twice to push themselves into the play-offs. Looking back, perhaps that defeat at Coventry wasn't as bad as first feared, given what Frank Lampard's team have gone on to do this season.

We then do a deep-dive into Middlesbrough's fantastic start to the season under Rob Edwards - as Boro only lost their undefeated record when Portsmouth beat them 1-0 last time out. Boro sit second and have exceeded all expectations so far, with the midfield duo of Hayden Hackney and Aidan Morris in particular catching the eye so far. So can Boro keep this up? Jonny gives his views, before we jump into Capology's reported Championship wages - and some of the big talking points.
