Rangers vs Dundee United Prediction: 9/2 Raskin to fire Gers to the summit

Rangers’ remarkable resurgence under Danny Rohl will reach new heights if they beat Dundee United at Ibrox on Saturday (15:00 BST) as the three points would take them top of the Scottish Premiership.
The Gers were 13 points adrift of Hearts in October when the German arrived, but a victory will send them above the Jam Tarts for at least 23 hours. My Rangers vs Dundee United predictions, the latest team news and Betfred’s match odds all follow below.

Team News
Rohl has admitted that he will be missing a key player for both the visit of United and the trip next week to Falkirk, but the former Sheffield Wednesday boss has been coy on the identity of the man involved.
He can welcome back Andreas Skov Olsen, who missed the win over Aberdeen last time out due to illness, but he insisted in his pre-match press conference that he will need to manage the load of some of the stars who were away on international duty.
That might mean reduced minutes for the likes of Nico Raskin, Manny Fernandez and Youssef Chermiti.
For United, Jim Goodwin is without Kristijan Trapanovski for the rest of the season due to knee ligament damage, while Johnny Russell’s calf strain has thrown his availability into question.
Isaac Pappoe remains sidelined with a knee injury which has kept him out for the last eight months, but Goodwin has said there won’t be too much need for change in the first XI after beating Celtic 2-0 before the break.
Rangers vs Dundee United Predicted Lineups
- Rangers: Butland; Tavernier, Djiga, Fernandez, Rommens; Raskin, Chukwuani; Skov Olsen, Moore; Naderi, Miovski
- Dundee United: Maynard-Brewer; Iovu, Graham, Keresztes; Stephenson, Sevelj, Agyei, Ferry; Farrugia, Ahmed; Watters
The Gers are overwhelming favourites, with Betfred pricing them at 1/4 for the win. United are 10/1, implying just a 9.1% probability of them coming out on top.
Despite both meetings so far this term having finished 2-2, the draw is still a 5/1 shot. It’s 20/1 for a third occurrence of the same exact scoreline.
Rangers vs Dundee United Stats
- Rangers have amassed a league-high 54 points since Rohl’s appointment, which is twice as many as Dundee United’s haul in that time
- Nico Raskin has 5 goals this season, matching his career high
- The Gers have kept 11 clean sheets under Rohl, winning 9 games to nil
Rangers to Win to Nil @ 21/20
There might have been a wobble in February and March which saw Rangers post a few draws and exit the Scottish Cup on penalties, but their last couple of results have been fairly ominous.
The win at St Mirren was unspectacular but comfortable, then they were far too good for a dreadful Aberdeen at Ibrox.
And that is the kind of return a side needs to keep the momentum and confidence up in a title race.
Rohl has insisted that his team will keep hunting big results even if they reach the summit on Saturday, with a real need to not rest on their laurels in the three-way battle with Hearts and Celtic.
It is just that sort of attitude which should see them limit Dundee United’s time on the ball in this fixture, and the 21/20 about them winning without concession is a bet I’ll gladly take. They’ve done it nine times already under Rohl.

Nico Raskin Anytime Goalscorer @ 9/2
A couple of weeks back there were questions about the validity of choosing Raskin over Mohamed Diomande in the Rangers midfield, but there have since been further flashes of just what he can do for the Gers.
The Belgian was instrumental in the dismantling of Aberdeen a fortnight ago, and his goal in that fixture was his fifth of the campaign.
A threat both from open play and in the area at set pieces, the 9/2 about the number 43 netting on Saturday is bigger than it ought to be in my opinion.
