Rangers vs Dundee Prediction: Chermiti to lead 8-from-8 charge

On the back of a seven-game winning run, Danny Rohl’s rampant Rangers will make ground on at least one of their Scottish Premiership title rivals on Sunday if they beat Dundee at Ibrox (15:00 GMT).
The Gers, who were eighth in the table when Russell Martin was fired in October, are level with Celtic and chasing down Hearts ahead of Sunday’s crucial fixtures. My Rangers vs Dundee predictions follow, along with the latest team news and Betfred’s match odds.

Team News
Rohl is likely to call upon two of his three new signings, with Tochi Chukwuani and Andreas Skov Olsen both in line for potential starts.
Left-back addition Tuur Rommens is a week or so away from contention, having arrived from Westerlo carrying a slight knock.
Rangers are still without John Souttar, Derek Cornelius, Nedim Bajrami, Connor Barron and Dujon Sterling, while Kieran Dowell left for Hull City this week.
James Tavernier could return after being dropped for Thursday’s Europa League win over Ludogorets.
Dundee boss Steven Pressley is missing Billy Koumetio after scans showed the defender’s knee injury will force him out for a lengthy period.
New signings Brad Halliday, Joel Cotterill and Joe Bevan could all feature, while skipper Simon Murray is fit to start after made shortened appearances against Hearts and Kilmarnock in a phased return to action.
Rangers vs Dundee Predicted Lineups
- Rangers: Butland; Tavernier, Djiga, Fernandez, Meghoma; Diomande, Raskin; Skov Olsen, Aasgaard, Moore; Chermiti
- Dundee: McCracken; Astley, Graham, Robertson, Wright; Congreve, Jones, Hamilton, Dhanda, Yogane; Hay
Guess who are the favourites… Yes, the Glasgow side are a 1/4 shout for the victory which would see them make ground on one or both of Hearts and Celtic, who meet on Sunday at Tynecastle.
Dundee a 10/1, implying a 9.1% probability of an away triumph, with the draw at 5/1.
Bojan Miovski, who scored a hat-trick against Annan Athletic in the Scottish Cup last Friday, is the 3/1 favourite to score the game’s first goal.
Rangers vs Dundee Stats
- Rangers have won 7 straight matches in all competitions (5 league, 1 Scottish Cup, 1 Europa League)
- The last goal conceded by the Gers came in the 3-1 Old Firm win over Celtic on January 3, with 431 minutes of action passing since
- Dundee have won 4 of their last 5 in league and cup, with their only loss coming against leaders Hearts
Only Rangers to Score @ 1/1
While visiting gaffer Pressley rightly pointed out this week that his own side’s form is not far short of what Rangers have produced of late, this fixture comes as a perfect opportunity for the Gers to make a big stride in the title race.
Their seven successive wins have come off the back of a solid structure, and while they have given up chances they have shown a new-found desire to get in with the muck and nettles.
The additions of Chukwuani and particularly Skov Olsen to their options also makes them a more formidable attacking prospect, so I expect Dundee to be left pining for a bit of the ball for long spells.
Rangers should win this without too much damage, and another victory without conceding seems the sensible bet given their last four results have all come in that fashion.

Youssef Chermiti Anytime Goalscorer @ 21/20
It has been a rollercoaster sort of season for Chermiti. Having struggled to adapt to begin with, his name was a byword for the issues the club was having under Martin, sporting director Kevin Thelwell and CEO Patrick Stewart.
But Rohl has thrown him a lifeline, and his two-goal salvo in the win against Celtic earlier this month wrote him into Rangers folklore.
He does still need to up his conversion rate in front of goal, with just four strikes to his name thus far. Yet his movement has been far better in recent times and arguably goals will come the more he continues to improve as an all-round forward.
Up against a Dundee side who will likely come to defend first, I fancy the Portuguese front man to get on the scoresheet in Rangers win. The 21/20 odds imply a 48.8% probability that he nets at some stage.
