Rangers ibrox stadium

From 13 points adrift in mid-October and eighth in the Scottish Premiership, Rangers will move within three points of the summit on Tuesday if they beat Aberdeen at Ibrox (20:00 GMT, live on Sky Sports Football).

The 3-1 win in Saturday’s Old Firm derby sends them into this one on a high, and their visitors are managerless following the sacking of Jimmy Thelin. My Rangers vs Aberdeen predictions follow, along with full team news and Betfred’s match odds.

Rangers vs Aberdeen Betting Tips

Team News

Danny Rohl delivered his pre-derby team news with a smile on his face, telling the assembled media that he had almost a clean bill of health.

Other than long-term absentees Derek Cornelius, Nedim Bajrami and Oliver Antman, there are few issues for the Rangers manager now that Dujon Sterling, John Souttar and Bojan Miovski are firmly back in the picture.

Nasser Djiga is still away with Burkina Faso, and Sterling appears to have escaped unharmed from a car accident in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Peter Leven’s latest reign as interim manager of the Dons begins on Tuesday following Thelin’s exit. That decision followed a 1-0 loss at Falkirk which stretched Aberdeen’s winless run to five games in all competitions and dropped them to eighth in the Premiership.

Leven may have to go without Adil Aouchiche, who took a nasty knock in the first half on Saturday, while Kenan Bilalovic didn’t emerge for the second stanza in what was his maiden start for the Dons.

Rangers vs Aberdeen Predicted Lineups

  • Rangers: Butland; Sterling, Souttar, Fernandez, Meghoma; Barron, Raskin, Diomande; Gassama, Chermiti, Moore
  • Aberdeen: Mitov; Lobban, Milne, Koester, Shinnie; Armstrong, Heltne Nilsen; Polvara, Karlsson, Keskinen; Nisbet

Rangers vs Aberdeen Odds

The Teddy Bears are not just the form team of this pair, they are the hottest team in Scotland since the arrival of Rohl on October 20, 2025.

Following the German’s appointment, Rangers have won nine and lost just one of 12 games. So it’s no surprise to see them priced at 4/7 for the three points at Ibrox on Tuesday.

Aberdeen are a 9/2 shot to tear up the form book and propel themselves back into the top six, while it’s 16/5 for the draw.

After his break-out two-goal performance at Celtic Park over the weekend, Youssef Chermiti joins Miovski and Danilo at 9/2 on the market for the game’s first goalscorer.

Rangers vs Aberdeen Stats

  • Rangers have picked up 11 points more than the Dons in the 12 matches since Rohl arrive at Ibrox
  • The Gers have recorded 3 wins and 3 clean sheets in their last 4 home league games
  • Aberdeen have suffered 8 defeats without scoring on the road this season
  • With his brace at Parkhead, Youssef Chermiti now has 4 goals in 5 starts and 9 sub appearances in the Premiership

Today's Football Fixtures

Only Rangers to Score @ 7/4

There were still plenty of question marks surrounding Rangers heading into Saturday’s derby, with their performances in the Premiership not having matched their results in many respects.

This was no better evidenced than in their last five home games, which have featured narrow one-goal successes over Livingston, Hibernian, Motherwell and St Mirren. The other result was a forgettable 0-0 draw with Falkirk.

But they have proved very difficult to get at, particularly at Ibrox. And that run of professional displays which has seen them move quietly northwards on the league standings ought to continue against a Dons side who have really struggled for the most part on their travels.

It's a 7/4 shot for the Gers to be the only team to score, implying a 36.4% probability for something which has occurred in 66.7% of their last three matches at Ibrox.

Football Odds

Youssef Chermiti First Goalscorer @ 9/2

As recently as a couple of weeks ago, you would never have caught me tipping Chermiti to be on the scoresheet.

But the much-derided forward, whose awful form had been one of the key tenets of the fans’ opposition to former sporting director Kevin Thelwell, has shown great improvements of late.

The scorer of a late consolation against Hearts, Chermiti then turned in a great showing in the win over St Mirren and was the two-goal hero at Celtic on Saturday.

His leading of the line has become a real strength of Rangers’ recent play under Rohl. And I fancy to him to notch again on Tuesday.

Given this ought to be a fairly tight encounter with not too many goals involved, I’m willing to bet on the value of him scoring first rather than go for the 8/5 anytime goal option.
