Rangers’ Scottish Premiership title credentials will get a true test on Wednesday when they visit fourth-placed Motherwell at Fir Park (20:00 GMT, live on Sky Sports Football).

Jens Berthel Askou’s biggest question mark could be over the most effective way to deal with the Gers’ set-piece threats.

There is a school of thought that the Motherwell boss could hand a first start to new 6ft 4in Norwegian forward Eythor Bjorgolfsson in a bid to neutralise some of what Rangers throw at them.

The Steelmen are missing Regan Charles-Cook and Elliot Watt due to injury.

Rangers boss Rohl has said that everyone bar Max Aarons is fit among those who have been involved of late, with only long-term absentees Derek Cornelius and Connor Barron still to return.

That means potential recalls for Emmanuel Fernandez and Youssef Chermiti.

The big question mark could come at right-back, where James Tavernier may retain his spot after a hat-trick in the 8-0 Scottish Cup win over Queen’s Park. That would mean Dujon Sterling being held back for the visit of leaders Hearts to Ibrox on Sunday.

There shouldn’t be an awful lot in this one. There certainly wasn’t when they last met at Ibrox in December, although chances were wasted at each end before Thelo Aasgaard netted the only goal.

While the Well have Tawanda Maswanhise back from Afcon this time around, Rangers are a very different prospect since the additions of Tuur Rommens, Tochi Chukwuani, Andreas Skov Olsen and Ryan Naderi in the January window.

And they have been as stingy both home and away as Motherwell have, with only a Jack Butland error against Kilmarnock accounting for a goal conceded in their last 701 minutes domestically.

So I have to go with the prospect of Rangers doing just enough in a tight encounter, and the 5/2 about them keeping a clean sheet in doing so looks like exceptional value.

There is such a narrative building around Rangers’ successes in the set-piece department these days that teams will start to do everything they can to stop conceding them.

Fouls around the area will be a no-no, and any player covering defensively will be thinking twice about knocking the ball out for a corner.

That’s one of the reasons I see a low corner count in this fixture. Add in the fact that these are the best two defences in the league, and there is clearly a level of quality in dealing with most difficulties.

I expect ball to be in play at a pretty high rate, and it’s an attractive 11/10 for fewer than 10 corners to be awarded. The 47.6% implied probability is punter-friendly.
