Football generic sub

Two sides battling in the bottom half of the Scottish Premiership table go head-to-head on Wednesday night (19:45 BST) as Kilmarnock host Aberdeen at Rugby Park. Aberdeen had a rollercoaster of a season last term, with a blistering start erased by an awful mid-season slump.

This term has been all rather downhill, but the Dons have won two of their last three league games, and they will hope to continue their progress at Rugby Park. Kilmarnock have conceded six goals in their last two matches, but those strikes have come against Hearts and Rangers, and it’s only three defeats in nine league games this term for Killie. Read on for my Kilmarnock vs Aberdeen predictions...

Team News

Jamie Brandon, Matty Kennedy and Tom Lowery are unlikely to feature for Kilmarnock, while forward Djenairo Daniels could be out for the season. Former Arsenal forward Tyreece John-Jules, who was signed on a short-term deal last week, is available for selection.

Football Odds

Emmanuel Gyamfi, Sivert Heltne Nilsen and Kristers Tobers are unavailable for the visitors. Topi Keskinen started from the bench last weekend, following being substituted in the Europa League, but should be fit to return.

Kilmarnock vs Aberdeen Predicted Lineups

  • Kilmarnock: Beach; Stanger, Mayo, Deas; Brandon, Watson, Lyons, Kiltie, Thompson; Dackers, Anderson
  • Aberdeen: Mitov; Devlin, Milne, Knoester; Jensen, Palaversa, Armstrong, Molloy; Aouchiche, Lazetic, Karlsson

Kilmarnock vs Aberdeen Odds

Kilmarnock are 9/5 shots to take three points on home turf, while Aberdeen are 8/5 and the draw is available at 12/5. Over 2.5 goals is a 10/11 chance and both teams to score is 8/11.

Motherwell vs Dundee United Stats

  • Aberdeen have won two of their last three games
  • Karlsson has scored three goals in his last six Aberdeen starts

Aberdeen to win @ 13/8

Aberdeen could move above Kilmarnock in the Scottish Premiership table with victory at Rugby Park, and the Dons need to start progressing up the table.

Jimmy Thelin’s men have collected only seven points from their opening nine matches of the campaign, and the relegation zone is far too close to comfort.

The demands of European football have clearly had a negative impact on the Reds this term, but there has also been a fair share of ill-fortune.

Today's Football Fixtures

Aberdeen have collected six fewer points than the expected goals numbers suggest they should have this term, and the Dons are fifth best on those measures.

Thelin’s men are outperforming Kilmarnock, and there have been signs of improved results for the Dons.

The Reds have won two of their last three league games, and they can be expected to improve that record at Rugby Park.

Jesper Karlsson to score first @ 13/2

In a game where Aberdeen are expected to be competitive, Jesper Karlsson rates a first scorer play.

The 27-year-old has scored three goals in his last six starts for the Dons, and there could be more to come from a forward who scored plenty of goals during his time with Elfsborg and AZ Alkmaar.

Karlsson is also on penalty-taking duty for Aberdeen, and the 13/2 looks a little too big.
