Hearts vs St Mirren Prediction: Hearts unlikely to be broken

Hearts continue to set the pace in a thrilling Scottish Premiership title race, but Celtic and Rangers are hot on the heels of the Jambos.
Derek McInnes’ men host St Mirren at Tynecastle on Wednesday (19:45 GMT) and the euphoria of the Saints’ Scottish League Cup success has disappeared with the Paisley side looking nervously over their shoulder at the bottom of the Scottish top flight.

Team news
Hearts keeper Alexander Schwolow is suspended following his red card against Dundee and Craig Gordon is once again likely to deputise in goal. The Jambos will also be without Eduardo Ageu, Calem Nieuwenhof and Finlay Pollock who are carrying injuries.
Mark O'Hara, Jonah Ayunga, Keanu Baccus and Killian Phillips are all part of a lengthy St Mirren injury list. Shamal George and Liam Donnelly are likely to miss out after picking up injuries against Falkrik, while striker Dan Nlundalu is also a doubt.
Hearts vs Rangers Predicted Lineups
- Hearts: Gordon; Altena, Halkett, Findlay, McCart; Baningime, Devlin; Magnusson, Braga, Kyziridis; Shankland
- Rangers: Mullen; Fraser, King, Freckleton; Richardson, Campbell, McMenamin, Taylor, John; Mandron, N'Lundulu
Hearts are 2/5 for a Tynecastle win, while St Mirren are 7/1 and the draw is available at 10/3.
Over and under 2.5 goals is pick ‘em at 10/11 and both teams to score is a 11/10 chance.
Hearts vs St Mirren Stats
- Hearts have won five of their last six Scottish top-flight matches
- St Mirren have suffered three league defeats on the bounce
Hearts to win to nil @ 11/10
Hearts continue to set the pace in the Scottish Premiership title race and there is no sign of the capital club faltering.
The Jambos have won five of their last six Scottish top-flight matches, an impressive run which includes victories over Rangers and Celtic and the only defeat was a thrilling, but fairly unfortunate 3-2 loss to Edinburgh rivals Hibs in Leith.
Derek McInnes’ men sit three points clear of Rangers having played a game fewer than the Gers, and the lead over the Old Firm sides should be extended back to six points on Wednesday night.
St Mirren had been basking in their Scottish League Cup success, but the Buddies have won only two of their last 14 Scottish Premiership matches, it’s three league defeats on the bounce for the Paisley side and they are looking over their shoulder at the relegation battle.
Stephen Robinson’s men have scored only two goals in their last five matches and there is an injury crisis in Paisley.
Mark O'Hara, Jonah Ayunga, Keanu Baccus and Killian Phillips are long-term absentees, while Shamal George and Liam Donnelly came off injured in the defeat by Falkirk at the weekend and striker Dan Nlundalu is also a doubt.
It’s difficult to see St Mirren troubling Hearts and backing the Jambos to win to nil rates an excellent bet at 11/10.

Lawrence Shankland to score first @ 9/4
Lawrence Shankland has scored nine goals in his last 14 appearances for Hearts and the Jambos' front man can hurt a depleted St Mirren side.
The Scotland international will be on penalty-taking duty for a side who should dominate this contest, and Hearts have hit the net 29 times in 12 matches at Tynecastle this term.
Shankland is 9/4 to open the scoring on Wednesday night and that appears a little too big.
