Falkirk are on course for a top-six position in the Scottish Premiership this season and it has been a remarkable campaign for a side only promoted from the Championship last term..

The Bairns now turn their attention to a Scottish Cup quarter-final with Dundee United, and with Hearts out of the competition and Rangers and Celtic meeting on Sunday, the two sides will have eyes on the prize at the Falkirk Stadium on Friday night (19:45GMT, BBC Scotland & iPlayer).

Team News

Kyrell Wilson, Louie Marsh and Ben Parkinson will all miss Friday night’s cup tie, but forward Gary Oliver could return to the squad following a long injury layoff.

United will be without injured duo Craig Sibbald and Isaac Pappoe. Amar Fatah, who has impressed in recent weeks should continue in attack.

Football Odds

Falkirk vs Dundee United Odds

Falkirk are 5/6 to progress to the Scottish Cup semi-finals in 90 minutes, while United are 3/1 and the draw is a 13/5 shot.

Over 2.5 goals is tips on at 10/11 and both teams to score can be backed at 4/5.

Falkirk to win @ 5/6

Falkirk are basking in their top-six position in the Scottish Premiership and the Bairns look capable of being a handful in the Scottish Cup.

No side will be relishing a trip to the artificial surface at the Falkirk Stadium and certainly not after the Bairns bashed Kilmarnock 5-1 on home plastic last weekend.

John McGlynn’s men have lost only four of their 16 Falkirk Stadium matches this term, and while one of those reversals came against United last month, Liam Henderson’s red card gave the Terrors that success.

Falkirk are exactly the spirited and attack-minded side which will be dangerous in cup competition and they should be too strong for the visitors.

The Terrors have won only two of their last 12 away games and Jim Goodwin’s men have conceded 11 times on their last four road trips.

Falkirk rate the far more solid side in this spot and they can be backed to progress to the semi-finals.

Barney Stewart to score first @ 7/2

Barney Stewart is yet to develop into a consistent and regular goalscorer, but the young forward has 14 goals from a season which included a loan spell at Dunfermline and he is a handful in the box.

The 21-year-old notched twice against Killie last weekend, had a headed goal ruled out and also assisted Dylan Tait’s first goal of the contest.

Stewart will surely carry a huge threat against a United side which has kept only one clear sheet in eight games and conceded 11 times in their last four away games.

Take Stewart to open the scoring on Friday night.
