Dundee vs Rangers Prediction: 16/5 tip says Rangers remain on a Rohl

Following more Europa League pain this week, Rangers have the chance to continue an upturn in the Scottish Premiership on Sunday when they go for a third straight against Dundee at Dens Park (15:00 GMT, live on Sky Sports Football).

Beyond the obvious status of Rangers as favourites – they’re 4/9 for the victory with an implied probability of 69.2% – the match-result market has 13/2 about Dundee and it’s 18/5 for the draw.

Miovski and Danilo are the joint-favourites to strike first at 4/1, with the much-maligned Chermiti 9/2.

At 17/2, Simon Murray is the most-fancied Dundee player to break the deadlock.

While Rangers have lost three out of three in tournament football since Rohl’s arrival in October, they have had a clean bill of health in the Premiership.

The 3-1 victory over Kilmarnock in G51 was borne out of the kind of intent that was missing under Russell Martin, while the 1-0 success at Hibernian which followed owed much to a new steeliness about the Rangers side.

Dundee have, of course, secured some notable results this season. Not least of which was the 2-0 win over Celtic which helped to bring about the end of the Brendan Rodgers era at Parkhead.

But Rohl is very clear about what is expected as Rangers manager, and this has translated well in their league performance.

I expect that to continue in Tayside, with this one likely to play out similarly to the victory of Killie a fortnight ago. Rangers to win by exactly two goals is a 16/5 chance, implying a 23.8% probability.

While Chermiti and Miovski have struggled for Rangers, Danilo has at least shown some flashes of hope since Rohl came in.

The Brazilian netted with a perfectly-directed header against Kilmarnock, and followed that up with the only goal in the success at Easter Road.

That Hibs winner was another well-taken effort, rolling the ball out of his feet with his studs before striking with aplomb into the bottom corner.

Those are the kinds of instincts missing elsewhere in this Gers forward line, and Danilo is a man showing confidence right now. So I fancy him to grab a goal at any time, with Betfred offering 11/8 for just such an eventuality.
