Team News
The headline team news for Celtic is that Nancy is still in the job, despite his position having come up for question following defeats to Hearts, Roma, St Mirren and Dundee United.
Kelechi Iheanacho remains unavailable after pulling his hamstring in the League Cup final loss to the Buddies, while Marcelo Saracchi sits out with the same issue.
Alistair Johnston, Callum Osmand and Cameron Carter-Vickers with long-term injuries, and Tunisia’s Sebastian Tounekti and DR Congo international Michel-Ange Balikwisha are away at the Africa Cup of Nations.
Kristers Tobers is unlikely to play for the Dons as he nears the end of his recovery from a long-term ailment, while Jimmy Thelin is without Gavin Molloy for another month at least due to an ankle injury.
Celtic vs Aberdeen Predicted Lineups
- Celtic: Schmeichel; Scales, Trusty, Tierney; Yang, McGregor, Bernardo, McCowan; Forrest, Kenny, Maeda
- Aberdeen: Mitov; Devlin, Knoester, Milne; Jensen, Polvara, Armstrong, Keskinen; Aouchiche, Nisbet, Karlsson
Despite their slump, Celtic are 3/10 for the win at Parkhead on Sunday, with Aberdeen 8/1 to continue their recent improved form.
The draw is 9/2, while you can back Celtic at 2/7 on the 2-Up Early Payout market. That would make you a winner the second the Hoops went two goals ahead.
It’s 4/5 for Both Teams to Score, at an implied probability of 55.6%.
Celtic vs Aberdeen Stats
- Celtic are on their longest losing streak in all comps since December 1977-January 1978, and defeat would make it the worst three-game league run since October 1994
- The Bhoys have gained 15 points in 5 games under Martin O’Neill this season against just 17 in 11 matches (W5, D2, L4) under Brendan Rodgers and Nancy
- Aberdeen have gone 32 matches without beating Celtic in normal play (D6, L26, 23 goals for, 81 against) but did win last season’s Scottish Cup final clash on penalties
Double Chance: Draw or Aberdeen @ 23/10
Much as they have to win at some point, I just don’t see a quick fix to Celtic’s current malaise on and off the pitch.
Nancy may not be the main problem, but neither does he look like the ideal solution just now.
If Aberdeen get into a position of superiority at Parkhead, then it will be fascinating to see how toxic the place gets.
The Dons are unbeaten in seven, winning five and drawing two. That puts them up alongside Rangers as the form side in the Premiership.
And I think Thelin will have them primed to pick off a wounded Celtic. The double chance at 23/10 and an implied 30.3% certainly attracts my attention.

Both Teams to Score in First Half @ 3/1
The Dons won’t want to let Celtic settle, so I think they’ll get about the home side from the off.
And now that their sorry Conference League season is over, they can take out their frustrations on Glasgow’s crisis club.
While there will have to be some sort of fight about Celtic, I reckon Aberdeen make some in-roads early. That leads me to like the look of this bet for both teams to register by the break at 3/1.
