Spain and Portugal get their Uefa Women's European Championship campaigns underway on Thursday night (20:00, live on ITV X) at Stadion Wankdorf, with the former amongst the favourites to win the competition.

La Roja are set to make their fourth successive appearance at the tournament, while Portugal are hoping to put a miserable Nations League campaign behind them. Read on for my Spain vs Portugal Bet Builder Tips below.

Spain vs Portugal Odds

Handicap 3-way - Spain -2

As mentioned in the introduction, Spain are one of the favourites to win the Women's Euros, which isn't really a shock given that they are the reigning World Cup and Nations League champions, and they'll have aspirations of lifting this trophy for the first time in their history.

La Roja made light work of the qualifying process, winning five of their six matches to finish top of a group that also featured Denmark, Belgium and the Czech Republic.

The World Cup winners can start with a big win here - they faced Portugal in the Nations League just a few months ago, where they won 11-3 on aggregate. Those two wins were apart of a five-game winning streak for the Spanish leading up to the tournament, and they scored 21 goals during that spell.

As well as suffering heavy defeats to Spain, Portugal also shipped six against England at the end of May, and were also on the receiving end of a 3-0 defeat to Belgium recently, so backing Spain -2 looks a decent pick for Thursday's contest.

Spain vs Portugal Bet Builder Stats

  • Spain recently defeated Portugal twice at the Uefa Nations League
  • Portugal have conceded 16 goals across their last four matches

First Goalscorer - Alexia Putellas

Alexia Putellas looks back to her best and this competition will have more meaning to her than most, after she tore ligaments in her knee on the eve of the 2022 tournament in England.

That injury caused her to miss the entire competition, weakening Spain in the process, and she was the Ballon d'Or Feminin winner at the time. There's every chance she could retain that crown if she has an impressive Euros.

Last season for Barcelona, Putellas scored 22 goals and provided 16 assists across all competitions, which will make her one of the most feared players at the tournament. She also scored twice in the recent 7-1 win over Portugal in the Nations League.

I've opted for the 31-year-old to open the scoring here rather than find the net anytime due to the bigger price.

Both teams to score - yes

As much as I think Spain will dominate, I can see Portugal scoring on Thursday night.

La Roja failed to keep a clean sheet in any of their Nations League group matches, and they conceded three times in their two wins over Portugal.

So to round off this bet builder, I've opted for both teams to score - yes at 6/5.
