Here we are then. The semi-finals of Euro 2024 and the first match of the penultimate round of the tournament sees Spain and France go to battle with one another in Munich on Tuesday (20:00, BBC One).

La Roja have been the most consistent side throughout this tournament, playing an exciting brand of football, while Les Bleus have carried themselves through but have not looked like the team we have come to know in recent years. Below I have put together my Spain vs France bet builder tips, which combined, pay out at 7/2.

Spain vs France Bet Builder Tips

  • Under 2.5 goals (in 90 minutes)
  • Nico Williams & Lamine Yamal 1+ shots (in 90 mins)
  • Marc Cucurella, Rodri & Adrien Rabiot 1+ fouls (in 90 mins)

Under 2.5 goals (in 90 minutes)

My first selection is for there to be less than three goals in 90 minutes of this tie. I couldn't bring myself to back a winner, although I am leaning towards Spain if someone was able to get the job done in 90 minutes.

France are a conundrum, they haven't offered much offensively but they have been very good at frustrating their opponents, trying to bring them down to their level. That is exactly what they will look to do against Spain as they will want to disrupt their harmonious rhythm.

Spain have had a couple of games at Euro 2024 in which they have scored a few goals but when they were against one of the top sides in Germany in the last round, they scored just twice, with the winner coming at the death of extra-time.

Les Bleus have conceded just one goal in regulation time at this tournament so far, which highlights just how organised they have been at the back.

I do think Spain have the quality to break them down and find a route to goal, but I cannot overlook the fact that France do have quality of their own, even if it hasn't been on display in Germany until this point.

I think this could be a tight affair in 90 minutes and I do not expect there to be many goals.

Nico Williams & Lamine Yamal 1+ shots (in 90 mins)

A lot of Spain's joy at the Euros this summer has come from wide areas and their two main options on the flanks, Nico Williams and Lamine Yamal, have been playing brilliantly.

They are both skilled dribblers and have both had no issues with getting goalscoring opportunities. Teenage sensation Yamal has registered 13 attempts already, while Williams himself has had eight shots.

The two wide men play as inverted wingers. Williams is on the left so he can cut in on his right foot, and Yamal on the right so he can drift inside onto his left. They have been terrorising defenders throughout this European campaign and I think France will be no exception for their wizardry.

Both of them will be key as La Roja try to break down this stubborn France side and I think that they have the talent to get past their full-backs and produce some more shots at goal. So I am backing them to have at least one each.

Marc Cucurella, Rodri & Adrien Rabiot 1+ fouls (in 90 mins)

If you have read many of my bet builder tips in the past you will know I always like to include player fouls. On this occasion I have gone big by picking three players to get penalised in this contest.

The reason is because each team is filled with serial offenders who have been very busy in Germany this summer. I have gone for two Spain players in defender Marc Cucurella and midfielder Rodri because they are renowned for committing fouls.

Having watched them in action many times in the Premier League over the last few years, they both have a habit of getting penalised for late or rash challenges. Cucurella has been penalised six times already at Euro 2024, and Rodri himself on five occasions.

Spain will be expected to see most of the ball here but should a counter-attack opportunity arise for France with the speedy players they have in attacking areas, both these players are going to be under a lot of pressure, and I think both are willing to take one for the team when it comes to making a tactical foul.

The French player I have selected is another midfielder in Adrien Rabiot. He has been a mainstay in Didier Deschamps' side for quite some time and he has had to be very busy at the Euros as his side have struggled to click in the final third.

Rabiot has been penalised five times at this tournament and I think this tally will rise against Spain, who are likely to dominate the ball in Munich. He is coming up against some smooth operators who can glide past him with one silky touch. He is going to be drawn into quite a few challenges on Tuesday and I don't think they will all be timed to perfection.
