After laying down a serious marker against Portugal on matchday one of the Uefa Women's European Championships, Spain will be looking to follow up that 5-0 thrashing when they take on Belgium on Monday evening (17:00 BST, live on ITV).

The Belgians did show some promise in their narrow 1-0 defeat to Italy, but they will have it all to do against the current Fifa World Cup holders. Read on for my Spain vs Belgium predictions, as well as the latest team news and match odds.

Team News

Spanish forward Alba Redondo remains doubtful after missing the win over Portugal with a muscle issue.

Cata Coll also missed the opening group game due to illness so Adriana Nanclares could continue to deputise between the sticks.

Barcelona duo Alexia Putellas and Vicky Lopez are expected to retain their places in the engine room, behind Esther Gonzalez up top.

Spain vs Belgium Stats

  • Spain have won nine of their last 10 matches, including each of their last six
  • Both teams have scored in three of the last four meetings between the sides

As for Belgium, Elisabet Gunnarsdottir may opt to stick with the same side that narrowly lost to Italy, which means a back five of Jill Janssens, Amber Tysiak, Sari Kees, Janice Cayman and Laura Deloose.

Belgium's all-time record goalscorer Tessa Wullaert, who scored in Belgium's 3-2 defeat to Spain back in February, will lead the line, while Hannah Eurlings and Jarne Teulings could be deployed on the flanks.

Spain vs Belgium Odds

La Roja are unsurprisingly 1/20 favourites, giving them an implied win probability of 95.2%, while the draw is 12/1 and Belgium are 33/1 to send shockwaves across the continent and defeat the world champions.

Gonzalez currently tops the anytime goalscorer market at 4/7, while Wullaert is shortest-priced for the Red Flames at 9/2.

The two sides last met in May earlier this year - a game that Spain won 5-1 - and a repeat of that scoreline can be backed at 14/1.

Price Boost - Spain Women to win and both teams to score @ 11/8 13/8

As mentioned in the introduction, Spain swept Portugal aside with ease on matchday one - to say they were utterly dominant in their opener would actually be an understatement, racking up 22 shots, 4.2 xG, and 71% possession.

That could spell bad news for the Red Flames, who must be sick of the sight of the Spanish. They built up a 2-0 lead against Spain inside 72 minutes in the Nations League back in February, before La Roja levelled the game in the 92nd minute and ultimately broke Belgian hearts with a dramatic winner in the 96th.

Fast forward to May, and Spain ran out 5-1 winners in a dominant display. In fact, the sides have met four times in the past 15 months - Spain winning all four by an aggregate scoreline of 17-3.

For all of Spain's dominance, they aren't as prolific at the back as they are going forward, managing just two clean sheets in 15 matches. Belgium managed to score in the two defeats to La Roja this year and carry a viable goal threat in Wullaert.

Esther Gonzalez to score first @ 10/3

With Spain expected to score plenty here, it makes sense that Gonzalez is odds-on to score anytime. So, I'm backing the 32-year-old to open the scoring, just as she did against Portugal on matchday one, at 10/3.

The NWSL's current top scorer netted twice against the Portuguese and while she only played 106 minutes of those aforementioned four games against Belgium, she managed to net four goals.
