Southampton are cut adrift at the bottom of the Premier League and will be striving to snap a five-game losing sequence when they face fourth-bottom Wolves in their Premier League fixture at St Mary’s Stadium on Saturday afternoon. A swift return to the Championship is looking highly likely for the Saints, who are 14 points adrift of safety with just 10 games remaining.

Ivan Juric’s side had a decent first half in last Saturday’s 3-1 loss at Liverpool but they have been beaten in each of their last eight Premier League home encounters. Wolves were beneath Southampton after failing to win any of their opening 10 games of the season but they have steadily improved and head to the south coast with a six-point cushion to the relegation spots.

Team News

Southampton's Jan Bednarek had to follow a six-day recovery protocol after suffering a head injury at Liverpool last weekend but he may be available for selection. However, the home side will have to make do without James Bree (thigh), Ryan Fraser (calf), Ross Stewart (fitness) and Juan Larios (match fitness).

Matheus Cunha continues a three-match ban for Wolves, while Sasa Kalajdzic, Leon Chiwone, Yerson Mosquera and Enso Gonzalez (all knee) are long-term absentees.

Marshall Munetsi (unspecified injury) was withdrawn at half-time in last Saturday's 1-1 draw at home to Everton but has been called up to the Zimbabwe national team squad.

Southampton vs Wolves Odds

Southampton are 13/5 to secure their third league victory of the campaign, while Wolves can be backed at 11/10 to complete the league double over a side they defeated 2-0 at Molineux last November.

Wolves drew 1-1 at home to Everton last Saturday and are 5/2 to share the spoils for a second successive weekend.

Over 2.5 goals is quoted at 4/5, while under 2.5 can be backed at Evens.

Wolves to win @ 11/10

Wolves have been stuck in a relegation battle for most of the season but they have established a six-point gap to the bottom three and can crank up the pressure by defeating Southampton.

Vitor Pereira's side are having to get through a batch of games without influential striker Matheus Cunha, who has delivered 17 goal contributions (13 goals and four assists).

But they competed well in last Saturday's 1-1 draw at home to Everton and should have too much quality for Southampton, who have looked out of their depth for large parts of the campaign.

Saints have lost their last four Premier League home games by at least two goals and are heading for further disappointment this weekend.

Jorgen Strand Larsen anytime goalscorer @ 13/8

Matheus Cunha's suspension weakens Wolves but they have other talented attackers in the group, including Jorgen Strand Larsen, who has netted seven goals in 26 Premier League appearances.

Strand Larsen has registered 37 shots (the second highest of any Wolves player) and looks an overpriced 13/8 shot to increase his goal tally.
