Sheffield United. Just as we thought they were moving into pole position to scoop the Championship title, they lost 1-0 at Oxford United and now it is anybody’s guess who wins the second tier. Burnley are 27 games undefeated and look impenetrable right now, but if the Blades can get back to winning ways on Tuesday night they will pile the pressure back onto both the Clarets and Leeds.

This one kicks off at 19:45 on Sky Sports+ and below you can find my Sheffield United vs Millwall predictions.

Team News

Chris Wilder’s side fell to a really disappointing defeat last time out and as a result he could make some changes to his starting XI. Vinicius Souza is almost certain to come back into the midfield despite recent good form from Hamza Choudhury, while Callum O’Hare is also likely to replace Rhian Brewster from the off.

Jesurun Rak-Sakyi and Tom Cannon could also be handed starts but the back four could remain unchanged, with Choudhury a potential alternative to Femi Seriki at right-back. Sydie Peck has been excellent in midfield and should retain his place in this vital fixture, as Tom Davies and Oliver Arblaster remain sidelined.

Sheffield United vs Millwall Stats

  • Sheffield United have kept two clean sheets in six
  • Mihailo Ivanovic has scored three in his last three

Millwall are unfortunately going to be without Japhet Tanganga for this one as he was forced off in the win over Portsmouth. He will join Shaun Hutchinson on the sidelines which means that former Blades Ryan Leonard may play in the back four alongside Tristan Crama, Jaka Cooper and Joe Bryan.

Mihailo Ivanovic has found some form and will start up front again, as he scored twice in that win over Pompey, while Josh Coburn will hope to edge out Macaulay Langstaff in the race to partner him up top.

Sheffield United vs Millwall Odds

Sheffield United are priced at 3/5 to win this game while Millwall are 5/1. That gives the home side an implied win probability of 62%, while a draw can be backed at 11/4.

Over 2.5 goals is 6/5 but has only come in during 35% of United’s games this term, while BTTS is the same price. Tyrese Campbell is the favourite to score first at 9/2 having scored 10 so far this term.

Sheffield United to win to nil and BTTS @ 3/1

Now, the Blades have had one of the best defences in the Championship this season and they should be able to get back to winning ways, but I think there is value to be had in backing both teams to score as well.

Sheffield United have conceded 30 goals this term, which while impressive, doesn’t compare to the likes of Burnley (12), and Leeds (28). Michael Cooper is one of the finest goalkeepers at this level but I think the Blades have not been as solid of late, having only kept two clean sheets in their last six.

Meanwhile, Millwall have looked threatening of late, and they have a striker in form - but more on Ivanovic shortly. I’m going to back the Blades to secure another home win with both teams finding the net, which came in during their last home match against Coventry.

Mihailo Ivanovic to score first @ 10/1

I like the look of the odds on offer here. As I’ve mentioned, I think Millwall should score at Bramall Lane, and there’s only one man who I want to back to score first. I think Ivanovic could shock the home side with an early strike, even if his side ended up losing. The Serbian is only 20, but now has eight goals for the season and bags of potential.

He scored twice against Portsmouth last time out and has now got three in three, so he’s feeling confident heading to Sheffield. I think he’s a massive price to open the scoring tonight.
